Whitewashed in '05
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 09:33 PM) Wow, if true, doesnt look like the Braves will be working closely with Kinzer and his clients anytime soon. That is really bad on the agent, I kind of took that info as if Kinzer got a deal that he wanted, but didnt get really the final okay from Furcal yet but went ahead and agreed, and then Furcal said that he didnt want that deal, opting for the Dodgers. This should reinforce the importance of someone's word. Like Dye when turned down a greater offer after accepting the deal with KW. Lots of respect for that. witesoxfan
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 12:35 PM) That is a steal of a deal and I'm pissed the Sox wouldn't make that sort of offer. You know, they've just had a f***ing need at the top of the order for every year except one since Durham was dealt away (and that was when Pods had his great 05 season). I don't think there's any way the Sox are going to bank on someone's back staying healthy when it comes to a player who has to move around as much as say Furcal or Crede. One wrong step and they're on the shelf for a month or more at a time. When healthy, Furcal is a hell of a good bat, but I don't think you can guarantee that health and that's what made the Sox very leery of such a deal. That, and it appears Kinzer's kind of a dirty player along the same lines as Boras.
ThunderBolt
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 02:09 PM) Except that the idea is beyond ridiculous and doesnt have a chance in hell of ever happening Never said it did. Talking in terms of unrealistic speculation
joejoesox
So much for Cabrera going to the dodgers and us getting a decent pick If he goes to Oakland, how much better/worse would the pick be?
caulfield12
http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-bl...y_be_happy.html Good article in AJC about why the Braves were fortunate NOT to end up with Furcal. Also a pointed shot at Wren for trading Vazquez for Flowers.

caulfield12
Haven't seen many Atlanta people out there second-guessing giving up Flowers yet...they all CLAIM that he has no position with the Braves and was/is expendable. Second, MANY MANY posters here seemed to fall in love with Furcal over the last month, yet there are a ton of reasons (as listed in the article) why KW didn't come close to pulling the trigger, even though the popular belief was that we were the "mystery team" lurking in the shadows waiting to swoop in our prey and announce a shock to the AL Central race. Bobby Cox said he wasn't happy about giving up Flowers and that his bat was major league ready.
The Critic
John Schuerholz doesn't like Furcal's agents' methods, apparently: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/arti...furcals_agents/ Strong words from JS.

Or counter with somethign about half of what they present. Oh well.
