Rooftop Shots
QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 10:43 PM) In 1974 I saw Styx in a little recreation center that packed about 500 people in a small town called Calumet Park. (Not Calumet City! That's out by Dolton) Calumet Park is about a half mile east of Blue Island. QUOTE (YASNY @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 11:19 PM) In 1972 Styx played at my high school's homecoming dance. QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 07:49 AM) After they became successful they claimed to only have played one or two High School dances, but I swear I know a lot more people who went to High School where they played. Man O Man! Not sure of the ages of both of you, but by the looks of our postings along with the dates that we all put on them, are all 3 of us somewhere in the top 5 of nursing home wheelchair posters on Soxtalk? I'm staring 50 in the crosshairs. Gotta add Yasny, FlaSoxxJim, and BigEdWalsh in the old people's club. IIRC BigEd is in his mid/late 50s. He may be the most mature of the Soxtalk regulars

This Feb 27th, I officially go from cliffhanger............ to falling off the cliff.
GoSox05
Lucero are a somewhat known band. They should be a lot bigger though. They are kinda the modern day The Replacements in that in twenty years everyone will talk about how they are one of the greatest bands of all time, but never had one "hit song". dasox24
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 11:30 AM) Lucero are a somewhat known band. They should be a lot bigger though. They are kinda the modern day The Replacements in that in twenty years everyone will talk about how they are one of the greatest bands of all time, but never had one "hit song". They are pretty good. I remember playing a bit of their music when I deejayed at the campus radio station last year.
Hawkfan
Casey Donahew Band I've been listening to them for a few months now, and it should be where country music is going, but unfortunately it is what country music is moving away from. The Critic
All my favorite under-appreciated bands are dead: Marvelous 3 Dramarama Land of the El Caminos Woolworthy Muchacha Clowns For Progress All great, all largely ignored, all gone. (Technically, Muchacha's clinging to life, but they barely ever play anymore and they don't record new material)
YASNY
QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 07:49 AM) After they became successful they claimed to only have played one or two High School dances, but I swear I know a lot more people who went to High School where they played. I know I personally saw Styx at 3 different high school venues (Richards, Stagg, St. Patrick's). However, the one Richards was the only "dance". The other two were concerts.
