RNC Chairman Wannabe's Christmas Gift

This is one time I'll defend Rush Limbaugh. Since Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton didn't think Obama was black enough, and the LA Times are the ones that ran with the story saying that, of course some wing nut is going to satarize it.

Always remember: John McCain is George W. Bush.

You are seriously going to defend that song? Really?

I will as well.

The song, which debuted on Limbaugh’s show in late March 2007, latches onto an opinion column in the Los Angeles Times of the same title.

Is it really suprising? If they want to keep doing things like that, fine with me. They will just lose election after election.

Limbaugh is just becoming more and more out about his racism. Maybe he could get David Duke to fill in for him.

I'll defend the Constitution. I would rather err by allowing all of this, than picking and choosing. However, if NSS is suggesting it is a really bad idea, and probably not best for the RNC, I'll agree. If the suggestion is it should somehow not be allowed, then I will disagree.

It makes zero difference to me where it started. Opinion column in the paper, radio show, whatever. Its slimy. That simple.

Now, if you two are defending it in the sense of "they should be allowed to do that", then I agree - legally. No one should stop them. My protest is from a personal viewpoint. Someone who uses that as a political ploy is just showing me how low they are willing to go.

And as others have said, hey... if the RNC wants to keep getting the asses kicked politically, then by all means, continue doing things like this.

So it was just as ok for Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to make the comments they did? And it's ok for a DEMOCRAT journalist to use the phrase? From there, it's called a parody.

I just said, I don't care who said it originally. Sort of funny that Rush and RNC folks are defending their use of this, by pointing to some other scumbags (Jackson, Sharpton) as a defense for it. Lots of people say offensive things, that doesn't make it OK to propagate them.

If the RNC wants to be morons, and let their racism show through, hey, they can go ahead. Good luck getting back into power with that.

And yes, Jackson and Sharpton are also racist, as well as bitter and classless.

I believe I pointed out a few months ago that after the whooping the Republicans were going to take in November, their first chance to set their direction for the future was going to be the RNC chair election, just as the DNC Chair election in 04 helped re-orient the Dems by putting Dean in that role and bringing more resources to the forgotten areas. That this race might be a good window in to what the Republicans might try to do to recover from the pounding they were going to get.

As far as I can tell, the 2 candidates for that spot that I actually know about other than Michael Steele are this guy and This guy, a member of a Whites only country club until September.

At least from my perspective, I'm moderately unimpressed thus far.

About the SC guy... his membership to that club, its possible, he wasn't aware of the restriction. Not likely, but, possible. What concerns me more is that he was in charge of the campaigns in recent years in SC, where the Republicans have been particularly nasty.

I think this guy using it as a political ploy was idiotic. Limbaugh having the song on his show means nothing to me - he's a goofball doing entertainment. I am defending the song as it just being Limbaugh pointing out the absurdities in politics. Nothing more.

BTW, I support Michael Steele for RNC Chairman.

This song was played back way before the Democrat nomination was settled.

This whole thing is kinda silly. I know the "magic negro" thing has been around for quite a while. And I think, but am not sure, that the phrase has been around a lot longer than that column too, although it didnt refer to Obama at the time.

For real, whatever it says, it doesn't make the GOP look good by any means. Was it a dumb move for this guy to put it on a gift intended to get him the the RNC chair? Hell yeah, it was. But if this is how they look to repeat 1994 in 2010, good luck.

This is what I didn't get about the newspaper and some TV coverage during the campaigns. When Obama was an underdog, the media asked "is he black enough??" then when he started beating Hillary, it was "why can't he win over working whites?" At that point, the only people ostensibly supporting him in the media's eyes were blacks and lazy people.
