Soxplosion
with the Washington Redskins... I watched them on Fox today and they were winning 20-10. A ripoff call for the Rams (cant remember what) lead to a Rams touchdown, now 20-17. Time was running out for the Rams. There was under a minute left and they had no timeouts. I have a habit of rooting for whoever is losing if my team is not in the game. Well today, it was different, I was rooting diehard for the Skins. The Rams got down to about the Washington 30 and Warner went for the endzone, the ageless Darrell Green (who is probably my favorite player ever) jumped in front of Tori Holt and almost intercepted it but as he came down on his side he got injured badly. As he started to get up the entire stadium was chanting "Darrell! Darrell! Darrell!". The next play was a run by Troy Canidate all the way to the 6 yardline. I thought my new favorite team was surely doomed. With 17 seconds left and one play to score before settling for overtime, Warner went back. Lavar Arrington rushed in and hit KW in the side. As the ball popped loose KW turned and you could just see the terror in his face, the knowledge that he had just blown the game and ended the Rams 5 game winning streak. Daryl Gardner charged in, shoved Warner out of the way and dove on the football that was destined for his arms. Several meaningless penalties and challenges ensued but in the end my Redskins prevailed. Fox then showed a review to the Bears win (finally) but it didnt matter. I was already a Washington diehard. Do not think for one second that Im a bandwagoner. First off, the Skins are 5-6. And second, I was already rooting for them long before they won... Chisoxfn
I'll always love the Bears. I talk to new Bears fans every week at the Bar I go to, to watch the game and so far all the one I have talked to are really educated, which makes me even more proud to be a Bear fan. Bears got an amazing tradition, and some really talented players, they will be back next season.

Jjav829
Good, go f*** off. Don't ever watch a Bears game again, and don't dare ever call yourself a Bears fan again. Go root for the pathetic Redskins. You can look at that 5-6 record all you want. That team is B-A-D! Spurrier doesn't let any QB get set with the offense. Stephen Davis wants out. Their WR's are nothing great. They have a lot of problems. And and to top it all off, Spurrier may decide to run back to college football. Great team you picked there. No, your not a bandwagon fan, because bandwagon fans usually jump from a bad team to a good team. You went from a bad team to another bad team. Secondly your not a bandwagon fan because you were never a Bears fan to begin with. If you were a true Bears fan you wouldn't just say forget it because of one bad season. Go away. You never were a Bears fan. Go root for the bad Redskins because they played one good game that suddenly made you "fall in love" with them. Jjav829
BTW...Mike Martz is wrong. It's not his fault. He SHOULD have gone for the TD at the end of the game, and not just settled for the FG. I know he just wants to take the blame, but it was the proper call.
cwsox
Psycho, I cannot adopt you if you follow through with this Washington DC racistly named team. If not the Bears, try my beloved Dolphins, or the Pats with Tom Brady.

cwsox
Oh come on, you know damn well how I am about things like that! I am against all stereotypes of peoples as sports mascots, except the Irish for ND, since the Irish are all drunks anyway and aren't sober enough to know they are being mocked by people in Lucky Charms costumes. :-)
Chisoxfn
Well CW, I had to deal with protests at my highschool. My school is named the Warrios and people really wanted to change the name, mainly native amercian groups. Because of this, our school had to watch many videos on mascots that were drastically sided to the native side. I still don't understand their argument and maybe I never will. Of course Redskin is a much more derrogatory name then Warrior. I mean Redskin is a racial term.
Soxplosion
Maybe the Redskins are racistly named, but who really cares? No one is trying to make fun of Native Americans with this name. I didnt go to the team for its name, I went to em because I love the team... And cwsox, I cant go root for the Dolphins, that really would be bandwagoning. The Dolphins and Pats are both good teams. And, jjav, Im not leaving the Bears because of one bad season. Theyve been horrible for almost a decade. During that time theyve had one good season. But they blew it in the playoffs and and then they proved it was a fluke by going on an eight game losing streak this year! :puke. Seriously, this team is just bad. I wasnt alive during these allegedly great Bears teams of the early 80's (the fact that this crap team was ever even decent surprises me) so I dont really care about their great tradition they got from these teams. This team just sickens me. I hate the Bears. This hatreds been brewing inside of me for a long time and to see a team that really plays football play enlightened me and let all my anger towards the Bears out. Good luck, Bears fans, any guesses on how badly you finish? Atleast the Skins still have a shot at a winning record. The Bears are just back to their old form... So then you never really were a Bears fan to begin with. End of story. Have you ever heard of No Man's Land? Thats where the Redskins are. If your going to be bad, be bad enoguh to get a high draft pick. Don't get stuck in No Man's Land. In other words, you don't make the playoffs, but don't get a high draft pick. Danny Wuerful, Shane Matthews...LOL! Atleast the Bears were smart enough to realize that they are both bad QB's. Please don't disgrace us real Bears fans by calling yourself a Bears fan. For that matter, might as well not even call yourself a Sox fan because when was the last time that they did anything? So, whats the over/under for the time when you get upset with the Sox and decide to proclaim yourself a Mets (or other team) fan?
Soxplosion
HELL NO! The Sox are great, they always have been and they always will be. They have potential and theyve been good, or atleast decent, for many years. They are a team with great tradition and Ive actually been able to witness some of it. 93, 94, 00... Yeah, so great that they haven't won a World Series since 1917. Whereas the Bears won in 85. Great tradition? Huh? I must be missing it. No World Series Championship in 80+ years, the most famous event in franchise history happens to involve a bunch of players throwing games, arguably the best player in franchise history was banned from baseball, and as far as all time teams go, the Sox have probably one of the worst all time teams among franchises' that are not recent expansions franchises'. And thats great tradition? Compared to the Bears who had arguably the best RB ever and the best MLB ever, as well as one of the best defense's ever. They made their own video about a Super Bowl win, and their one time owner helped found the NFL. Yeah, that Sox tradition sure is better than the Bears. BTW, simply going to the playoffs, does not qualify as great tradition. Your expected to make the playoffs once in a while. Now winning the World Series is a different story. Your argument is weak. Soxplosion
Well then, if you think the Sox suck so much and youre so unhappy why dont you go root for the Yankees, you prick. I dont think Ive ever been a diehard Bears fan. If people would ask me who I like, Id say the Bears. And that would be the end of the conversation. If somebody asked me which baseball team I like Id say the Sox and Id ramble on for hours about all the times Ive been to Comiskey and how I saw Frank Thomas hit two in a game and how I saw Carlos Lee make a fantastic homerun catch and so on. But with the Bears, Ive never been to Soldier Field. I dont know much of their history (who is this all time greatest mlb?). I never really go ballistic when they lose (thats a good thing or else Id be one ballistic motherf***er) as I do when the Sox lose. When the Sox lose, I dont eat, I snarl at anyone who tries to talk to me and I become a very mean person. When the Bears lose, I say "OK" or "Oh well" and go on with my everyday activities. Ill stick with the Sox forever, if they win a WS during my lifetime, terrific, but if they dont I still love em! My days of being a Bears fan were limited from the start, I just never really liked em like I did the Sox.

If you don't believe that your fooling yourself. But Im not jumping ship because my team has a few bad years. You better learn to take loses less serious in baseball because your going to see a lot of them each year. Unlike football where every single loss means something, a single loss doesn't mean all that much in baseball. If you don't know who Dick Butkus is, well, that tells me right there you don't follow football much. Next time someone asks you which football team your a fan of, make sure you don't say the Bears. And when the Bears return to glory and have a good season, or win a Super Bowl, don't even think about celebrating and saying your a Bears fan. Soxplosion
OK, so maybe the Sox havent been the best team but does that make them ineligible to be my favorite team? No. Also, I disagree with you (among other things) on Joe Jackson being the best player this team has ever had. He was a drunk, an illiterate, and, in the end, a loser. He is the one whos cursed this team for its entire history. We were the Yankees until this cocksucker came along and threw the series and sent us into an unending downward spiral. Frank, Thomas, Nelli Fox or Ed Walsh are our best ever players. And Im overexxagerating on my reactions to Sox losses. Certain games only I get over emotional. Like when we blew Buehrles last game to the Twins or other close/important losses like that. Or when we blow one late. But I never get upset when the Bears lose. Ive heard of Dick Butkus but I really didnt know much more about him. I never thought he was as good as you say. I also wasnt sure if you were talking about Urlacher (I was hoping you werent tho because that would just be dumb). I wont ever claim to be a Bears fan again, OK? And what f***ing glory? The Bears havent seen any f***ing glory in over a f***ing decade!
