SI1020
They should cut the season down to around 140 games and start the season in mid-april rather than end of march and end the season in by the end os sept. and have an All-Star game then. Maybe something like US vs. The world or something like the NFL does with the Pro Bowl. I think that's what is called "thinking outside the box" in todays language. I also think its a good idea. Especially if they expand playoffs. I think the season should end just a little before you say, maybe by Sept 24 or so. I'm telling you one of these days the WS is going to be played in some real bad weather. They should bring back doubleheaders too. I'm not holding my breath waiting for any of these things to happen. SI1020
Yes. It was the 1970 All Star game. IIRC Jim Hickman of the Cubs got the game winning hit. If you ever saw the slow motion replay, Rose was actually going to slide but changed gears abruptly when he saw Fosse had the plate blocked. Fosse was an outstanding defensive catcher, but Rose annihilated him at the plate. The collision wrecked Fosses shoulder and he was never quite the same again. Yes, the All Star game used to mean something.
Grebeck Fan Club
Loaiza's really going three innings? I thought the starter only went two. At least now he has a quality offense working for him.
Steff
Bud Selig is an idiot....zito has to find out in a press conference and be suprised? What a classless move Why didn't his manager tell him since he was the one that made the decision..?? Blame Bud. Can we get a smiley that says that, too? Rex Hudler
Why didn't his manager tell him since he was the one that made the decision..?? Blame Bud. Can we get a smiley that says that, too? Oakland says they told him he wasn't going to pitch. Barry says he didn't understand it that way, that he didn't think it was a final decision. It was a misunderstanding. So how do you blame Selig for a misunderstanding between a pitcher and his team? If you want to blame someone, blame the most meddlesome GM in baseball.
