Let's talk food

So, how about we talk about our favorite/most hated restaurants/foods/recipes/etc?

Five Guys

One opened up recently by me. I'd heard a lot of good things about their burgers so I went and tried them out.

Burger:

Bacon Cheeseburger with ketchup, mustard, pickle, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions. Pretty solid. A-

Fries:

Couldn't eat them because of a peanut allergy. They're probably really good though. I wish that they had a non peanut oil version of them. INCOMPLETE GRADE

Drink:

I liked their drink variety. Had a Vault mixed with HiC Fruit Punch. Kind of like a Code Red a little. I wish that they had shakes, or mixed beverages like Sonic. B+

So, where have you been lately?

Casey's General Store?

There's one near-ish to me.

What pizza do you recommend?

Just a regular pepperoni. They are the pizza of choice in Iowa. I don't know if they do things differently in Michigan, though.

Plus, it's just a pizza, so it's worth a try.

Or you could try their breakfast pizza if you like cholesterol.

Went to "Whataburger" for the 1st time last week and it was great. Just had a basic bacon cheeseburger with fries, but it was great. Next on my list of places I want to eat is Jack in the Box.

Jack in the Box is excellent. Easily my favorite fast food burger.

Anyone try Fatburger?

Delicious place. Kanye West just opened one in Orland Park on Lagrange road near 153rd.

The patties they use on their Kingburger is huge! You can also add extra patties for, I think, about two dollars per pattie. You can also get toppings such as chili and a fried egg on your burger. If anyone ever go to Fatburger, GET a fried egg or two on your burger, it's DELICIOUS!!!

Other favorite foods:

BBQ chicken pizza: I love this stuff, I just wish I can find more pizza places that makes this stuff.

BBQ Swordfish: I tried this at the buffet at the Bellagio in Vegas and I've been craving it ever since. Anyone have any idea where I might be able to find some BBQ Swordfish in the city or the south or west suburbs?

Stuffing-filled Turkey roll-ups: this is one of my homemade dinner favorites, and here's the recipe:

Ingredients: *medium-sliced turkey meat freshly sliced at the deli (thin enough to roll)

*stove-top stuffing or any kind of stuffing.

*can of turkey gravy.

Directions: Cook stove top in a pan until it's cooked. Then get a baking pan, preferably a glass tray. Then get one or 2 slices of turkey (your choice), put stuffing on a neat line on the turkey, then roll the turkey (like rolling a big fat cigar) until the stuffing is enclosed within the turkey. Then, put the rolled up stuffing-filled turkey in the tray and make more. After you're done rolling up all the turkey roll-ups and they're neatly placed in the tray, open the can of gravy and pour it all over, making sure it's nice and moist. Then put it in the stove and bake on 350 for about 10 or 15 minutes or less, just make sure it doesn't get dry, crispy, or burned. Two stuffing-filled turkey rolls usually makes one serving, so make 8 turkey roll-ups for 4 servings, etc, etc. Eat with a fork and knife and serve with mashed potatoes, corn, broccoli, bread rolls, or whatever your family likes. This is a meal that is easy enough for a man who's not a very good chef to make. :)

After years of waiting, I finally got to try a Sonic! One opened right by my office.

Verdict:

The drinks are killer. No doubt the lemon berry fresh fruit slush is the thing dreams are made of. The cherry limeade is also incredible.

Bacon cheese burger toaster: VERY good.

Chili Cheese Tater Tots: sucked eggs.

Onion Rings: Good to very good.

I haven't dipped into the other foods yet, but those tater things REALLY were crappy. I recommend doing the fries.

Their burgers are really mediocre.

I thought they were pretty darn good. I mean, we are talking fast food style burger, so the chance of it being truly good are pretty impossible. I don't rate fast food burgers on the same scale as a TRUE burger, ya know? When I am REALLY in need of a burger, I never, ever, not in a million years, think of a fast food joint.

Sonic is a fantastic fast-food joint. They have a lot of stuff your typical fast food places don't have, like their slushes, limeades, grilled cheese, tater tots, mozzarella sticks, hot dogs, etc. I always get a Sonic Blast, though. It's like a Blizzard from Dairy Queen but better - in both taste and price.
