knightni
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28678112/ A triple-dog dare: Boy's tongue stuck on pole Event was reminiscent of a scene out of the movie 'A Christmas Story' HAMMOND, Ind. - In a scene straight out of the movie "A Christmas Story," a 10-year-old boy got his tongue stuck to a metal light pole. Police said the unidentified fourth-grader was able to tell them that a friend dared him to lick the pole Wednesday night. Temperatures in Hammond were around 10 degrees at the time. By the time an ambulance arrived, the boy was able to yank his tongue off the frozen pole. Police said ambulance personnel explained to the boy's mother how to care for his bleeding tongue. The 1983 movie is set in a fictional city based on Hammond, the hometown of author Jean Shepherd.

Kyyle23
QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 07:50 PM) The kid's ten. When was the last time you heard of a smart 10 year old? Maybe because I had already seen the movie "A Christmas Story" 5 times by the time I was 10, but I knew what to do if that ever happened. Me and my best friend talked about it a few times growing up. Both of us did it, but our tongues came right off

Most ten year olds are finding stupider and stupider ways of injuring themselves.

daa84
when i was about 12 years old I was the the Toboggan Slides at Swallow Cliff in Palos, and some girl was waiting in line at the top and thought it would be a good idea to lick the snow off the metal fence post....Tongue got stuck, and the girl tried to pull away...needless to say there was blood everywhere and a huge chunk of skin still stuck to the fence post when they rushed her down the slides and off to the hospital....to this day one of the grossest things i've ever seen in person
RockRaines
QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 07:56 PM) You were ahead of the curve then, my friend. Most ten year olds are finding stupider and stupider ways of injuring themselves. That is if they ever venture outside and if their parents allow them out of the 20 yard radius that has become the norm nowadays.
