He's terrible against the run and takes advantage of the strength of the rest of his line to get some sacks. But at least Jason Sehorn's girlfriend is the DA from Law and Order (the one with the long hair...you know) so he is marginally better than Sapp. And at least Sehorn didn't come out when Strahan broke the sack record to whine and piss and moan about how the record was given to him like Sapp did on national TV. Sapp is a 300+ moron with his head so far up his own ass he egoism has no ends. End of story.
MurcieOne
I hope that Sapp gets his legs broken..... this isn't just a game at the professional level..... it's a job, by hitting Cliford(i think) not only is he playing dirty he's putting someone's career in danger...... What a fat piece s***...... im not a packers fan.... but I am proud of Mike Sherman right now.

That games moves so fast, you don't have time to sit down and logically think. Your taught from day 1 of your football career in Pee Wee on an interception, you hit anything not in your jersey or in zebra stripes. It's very easy, in retrospect, to break down a play in slow-mo and pick apart every single thing frame by frame. Had Sapp gone over to the sideline and danced a jig about smashing Clifton, that's another story.

Well he didnt quite make it over to the sideline...he danced his little jig right there on the field...and then followed with these comments: Sapp did not deny that he hunted Clifton out on the play. "Yeah, I was a heat-seeking missile," Sapp said. "Boom. Boom. Boom. And I hit him." And regarding Sherman: Sapp responded afterward by suggesting Sherman cursed at him and then termed the Packers coach "a lying, s***-eating hound....If I was 25 years old and didn't have a kid and a conscience, I would have given him an ass-kicking right there at the 30-yard line." Ok wait so you need to be younger and have to personal ties to go and beat up a 55 year old guy? You're a f***ing ego-maniac asshole Sapp.

Whether or not you want to argue how poor of a role model he is, I think that's his point. I think the majority of the human population could kick Mike Sherman's ass if they wanted to. soxfan420
i cant blame sapp for celebrating after you knock the f*** out of someone it just happens i know i did it when i did it. and im sure he didnt think he was hurt or he wouldnt have been. besides there is nothing wrong with show boating a little, but it can go to far

Chisoxfn
Yep, after Sehorns' injury people stopped talking about him as much. As far as the play, I didn't see it. I'm sure it was legal and I don't like Sapp because he's a whiner, but I do think Sherman is a damn good head coach. I don't know who was right. Sapp wasn't right to dance right their if the guy was laying out damn near unconsious or something (Didn't see it), but if it didn't look as serious then I see it ok to do a little showboating. He had 12.5 sacks in 1999 and 16.5 in 2000 while Rice was still in Arizona. Also, what do you expect him to do? Stand there and do nothing? Your taught as a defensive player to turn around and find someone to block as soon as a turnover occurs. He saw Clifton, he hit him. End of story. As for his celebration, I seriously doubt that if Sapp would have celebrated if he knew that Clifton was injured. He celebrated because he got a big block on someone. Granted, I only played at the high school, but even then, on a turnover you hit ANYONE NOT WEARING YOUR UNIFORM. It is drilled into you from day one of defensive practice. There are specific drills ("Seek & Smash" is what our coach) designed to teach players to do exactly what Sapp did. I guarantee 100% if the tables were turned, and a Packer defensive lineman had drilled a Buccaneer offensive lineman on a pick, Sherman would have told him, "Good job." I can tell you from experience (as a safety, not a lineman, mind you), that they tell us to what Warren Sapp did. I guarantee coaches are going to show their kids that clip, point to it and say, "DO THAT!" As for the dance, I didn't see it so I can't comment on it. But the hit was clean. And good. Why don't you go run out on a field with some other 300 pound goliaths and see how fast your brain stops working. Anyone that would know anything about actually stepping out on a field and playing the game (not just watching it on TV) would know what I'm talking about. Rule 1 on defense is hit everything. What if Brian Kelly had cut back across the field and hoped to pick up some blocks, and then was tackled by Clifton and fumbled the ball? What do you think Sapp would hear about then? Why didn't you block that guy!?

Once Robinson got heaved, I figured that would be the end of it, since Bailey and the rest of LU's backcourt coudl really run circles around us. Great game, though, and not too much shame in losing. I look forward to Loyola's visit to Carver next year. And good points. I understand that when you show the block over and over again in slow mo and you count out the yards and inches between Clifton and Kelly while the shot is paused, Sapp looks like a real piece of s***; but you don't have time to do that while playing. He did his job. Whether or not he celebrated I don't know, but if he was, I honestly doubt he was celebrating that he put one of his peers in the hospital and possibly out for the year... He's probably celebrating over lighting someone up. You can debate the "morality" of that, but anyone who's ever lit someone up on a football field knows the kind of rush you get. However, I cannot speak for Sapp, so I don't know what was going on in his mind. If he did celebrate about hurting Clifton, that's an entirely different story. I'm sorry Clifton got hurt, but this is football; not curling.
Spiff
What about the fact that the guy couldn't feel his limbs? Does that matter to you? Is it all about defending the f***er who launched himself into a defenseless guy? A few weeks ago you couldn't go five minutes without hearing about a fine for hitting a reciever in a defenseless position, and that was when they were involved in the play! Now you say this is somehow different? f*** you. How about YOU lay on the stretcher with no movement in your arms and legs and tell me it wasn't a cheap shot, if that is what you are all about, getting on the field and putting yourself in their position. You go out on the field and lay there with no idea whether you're gonna be able to walk again, and tell me it was a good hit. You pretend because you f***ed around in high school football that it is somehow similar to the NFL. You never played against anyone comparable to Warren Sapp. You never cease to amaze me with your bulls***. Never. I have never wished anything harrowing to happen to anyone, but you try my patience. You sit there in your little f***ing bubble and try to tell people how s*** is. You are always there with your smarmy opinions about s*** you don't know about. Just wait til something happens to you, we'll see how diplomatic you are.

I'm sorry Clifton got hurt, but this is football; not curling. Well Bradley made it real interesting in the end but Loyola pulled it out. For those questioning Sapp's moves, put yourself in his situation and think about it like this. You play DT and are used to get a lot of cheap shots throw at you in the trenches. You don't really get to put big hits on guys a lot. So your teammate gets an INT, and you now have a chance to become the blocker instead of the blocked. You find the first guy you see and block him. You don't know exactly where your teammate is, you just know that he has the ball and is in the process of returning it, and you haven't heard a whistle blow yet. So you get to do what every NFL player likes to do. Get a big hit on somebody. You hit him hard and get a pancake block. You've managed to put him on the ground, and your teammate has the INT. Are you going to stand around like nothing happened. Hell no! You've got a lot of adrenaline going throw you because of a big play, and the fact that you got to do something that you like to do, block someone. Keep in mind this all took place in less than 20 seconds. This IS NOT something that you think about. Football is largely played by instincts. You don't have time to think about much, you just do whatever your instincts tell you to do. Do you honestly think that if he knew the guy was hurt, that he would have celebrated? Players are always being knocked down by big hits and the guys doing the hitting celebrate. Most of the time the player just has the wind knocked out of him, or was just hit so hard that it takes him a few seconds to get up. Rarely is the player seriously injured. You can't honestly expect him to not celebrate. The funny thing is these plays happen all the time. Just about everytime there is an interception, the blocks start flying. You think a safety doesn't love to get a free hit on a WR or RB? If you make a move that looks like you are trying to make a play, your fair game. It's the NFL rule. It's unfortunate that the guy was injured, but Sapp was doing his job.

OfficerKarkovice
OK regardless of whether the hit was legal, cheap, whatever...that wasn't the main problem. Sapp is a f***ing egomaniac who is more concerned with making a huge hit and showboating and making sure the cameras see him. THE GUY COULDN'T FEEL HIS LEGS and even now he's still in the hospital with a season, and perhaps carreer ending injury. You might say that well when he was dancing he didn't know he was hurt...well how about after the game after the guy got carried out on the stretcher and Sapp was still pumped about making the hit and bragging about it...he's a f***ing egomaniac asshole and there is no denying it.
