Cubano
The Media went after Palin because all the money spend in campaing clothing. However, during inauguration, Michelle ordered several dresses probably not very cheap and nobody said anything about it. On the contrary, Michelle was the fashion star in the Media. Is there anything wrong with this picture? I despise the Media not just in Cuba but in the world including the USA media. What a shame! Drill, Baby Drill! No drilling yet. No complain when gas skyrocket again. We know the Democrats will blame the Republicans for the shortcomings like in the financial crisis. Note: I am independent. I'm not a fan of the media by any means but that's a pretty standard Republican theme and tactic. Taint the message before it arrives. If it's positive for you, you win. If it's negative, claim bias. Whether the bias is really there (it is sometimes) or not. Palin was treated unfairly for a period of a few weeks (right now she's getting more attention than she's earned, IMO) but really she made herself a target by claiming to be something she's wasn't (which people eventually figured out), then mocking her opponents, not backing it up with anything substantive or halfway intelligent, and whining about it endlessly afterwards. Also, when you claim to be just a modest hockey mom just like you and not like the elitists on the coasts, perhaps you shouldn't go dressing at the elitist clothing shops. Balta1701
Couple random points. First of all, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the dresses she wore for the inauguration didn't cost a cent. People going to award shows wear designer dresses that they don't pay for. Because it's wonderful marketing for the designer. Secondly, there are more than a few instances of Michelle on the campaign trail wearing things that were actually quite reasonably priced. And third...really, why the Hell am I bothering with this? The Republicans gave her the clothing. Maybe, but so what? Michelle is a Harvard Law graduate - I'd expect her to have done well. And, for the record, Palin's family income was in the upper $100k's. HuskyCaucasian
Remember, part of the Palin problem was the GOP payed $150,000 for her clothing... then denyed it... then pointed fingers at McCains people... then they pointed back. It wasnt so much the clothing, rather where the money came from. Should a political party or campaign be paying to "sex up" a candidate?

Its OK for you to focus on her sex appeal, and give her insulting labels, but if private entities like herself or the GOP to spend money on her outfits it is sleazy? I honestly don't have a problem with it, but it just became one of many reasons that me and many others thought she came off as a phony gimmick (pretending she has things in common with me, as if that's a reason I should be using to decide my vote anyway). I rather have somebody denying that clothing controversy as oppose as having somebody representing the USA after saying she never felt proud to be an American. How about that Harvard degree? How about that money you made in the USA? Somebody is little confused. Michelle, Michelle go oversees and live w/o your American dollars. Then, tell me you are not proud to be an American. The Bones
First of all, get the quote right if you are going to make this argument. Michelle said, "For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country." She never said that she was not proud to be an American. Also, the quote is out of context and if you look at it she is obviously speaking about being proud that Americans have overcome so much in the last 40 years to be able to have real hope of electing an black man President. At least pick something a little more substantial to be upset with the Obamas than one sentence that was uttered half a year ago. Finally, as the late great Bill Hicks said, "I was over in Australia and I was asked, 'are you proud to be an American?' And I was like, 'I didn't have a lot to with it you know. My parents f***ed there. That's about all.'"
