elrockinMT
When does baseball start? And whoever heard of a Cardinal in Arizona anyway? A buzzard maybe. Edited February 5, 2009 by elrockinMT

A better moment in time? You like it better than the second link I posted, which is from an AP photographer? Did Steve's photo smile at you? If I uploaded it to a Cardinals website would it work? Rowand44
QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) I don't think so. It's as risky as hell, but I'd have done it. At the least, he should've stopped at the line until someone got close then stepped over, just to kill a little bit more time. He was way out in front of everyone. Wow. Palehosefan
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 03:10 PM) Wow. It's something I would have done in Madden. I would have run back and forth along the goal line wasting 10 more seconds off the clock. I don't know why Fitzgerald didn't think of it. BobDylan
QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) Shame on Fitzgerald for not thinking about football and instead just rushing into the endzone watching himself instead of thinking to stop and down the ball as close to the goalline as possible without crossing. Pittsburgh was the best defense in the league. You take the points. Too many things can go wrong if he stopped short: a penalty, an interception (which happened once and cost them dearly), a fumble. The defense didn't step up, that's all.
whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 02:19 PM) I have yet to see definitive evidence that his toe ever touched the endzone. That is all. Of course, I have also yet to see definitive evidence that Warner's fumble wasn't really an incomplete pass. And I have yet to see definitive evidence that either of his toes DIDN'T touch in the end zone. The photo in post #2 of this thread holds just as much water as the one in post #1, and since it was called a touchdown on the field and there was no conclusive evidence either way, you have to stick with it. I'm frankly shocked by the sour grapes so many people (not you perhaps, but there are some people who fit this description) who were bandwagon Cardinal fans on Sunday have about this game. If Arizona's defense could have come up with a stop, they'd have won the Super Bowl. If they could have just held Pittsburgh to a field goal, they'd have had a shot in overtime. If Kurt Warner properly reads a zone blitz at the end of the first half, Arizona probably wins the Super Bowl too. Yet everybody blames the officials. Yeah you have to take the points in an elimination game like that, let alone the Super Bowl. Even the Steelers decided not to go for the TD on 4th down in the 1st quarter. And Arizona's defense is by no means as good as Pittsburgh's.
Kyyle23
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 01:20 PM) No one has pointed out how A. Rolle got into Fitzgerald's way on the INT return at the end of the half, preventing him from tackling Harrison around the 10. Antrelle Rolle? He wouldnt have been on the field, he is a defensive player, it was an interception return. I know someone was in his way, but wasnt it Warner? edit: It was either Gandy, Warner, or Breaston, depending on what you are looking at. They all converged at the 10 double edit: Ok, I see what you are saying, when he was out of bounds and running down the sideline http://neswsports.com/2009/02/02/james-har...per-bowl-video/ Edited February 5, 2009 by kyyle23

In the NFL or MLB, I've never believed you can blame a game solely on the officials. I do it all the time in the heat of the moment anyways, but there's always things you can do to make up for it. The Cardinals, due to one huge mistake and terrible defense on the final possession, blew that game for themselves. That does not change the fact that the officiating was pretty terrible throughout. It little effect on the game itself, just that it was terrible.
