Jjav829
Ok well as I said last night I have a lot to say about the Bears/Saints game and the Bears in general. So... That collapse yesterday was pretty damn bad. They failed to ever put the game away though. They forced three turnovers early in the game and had a chance to make it a four score game, but didn't. The recovered fumble on the Saints botched snap was the one that pissed me off. They had a chance to make it a 24-0 game at that point and really demoralize the Saints. They recovered the ball on the Saints 13! Yet they settle for a FG. So the Saints got the ball and put together a nice drive to score to cut the lead to 20-7. Fine. I can live with that. It wasn't like they were going to play that bad the whole game. But then game the play that to me, completely turned the game around. The Saints kickoff and Leon Johnson fumbles the ball! Now this is the guy who is back returning kicks and punts because of his sure hands, even though he has no explosiveness and is no threat to break a big return. Then he has the nerve to say today "You can't blame me for one play". What? Hell yes I can blame you for one play. His fumble was huge. It's a potential 14 point swing. If he doesn't fumble that ball its a 20-7 game and maybe the Bears, who had all the momentum at that time, go down and score again. But he fumbles it, and gives the ball back to the Saints inside the Bears 20. Soon after, Brooks runs it on and the Saints are up 20-14. Now they have all the momentum. They're feeling good knowing that 10 minutes ago they were down by 20 and looking really bad. Suddenly regardless of all their mistakes and bad play, they are within one score. That was by far the defining play of the game. The worst thing that happened was the Bears going into the half with the lead. It was like they didn't know what to do. They come right out and give up the lead. Then on the Saints second possesion they get the ball deep in their own terrority. The Bears defense did a good job pinning them back and holding them. The Saints punt it and the Bears ahve it at the 35, but wait. Dumbass Todd McMillon gets called for a personal foul and it backs the Bears up 15 yards which takes them out of field goal range. Another huge play there. The Bears could have had a chance for a field goal. Then of course their anemic second half offense fails to even move the ball and they punt. Bryan Robinson played awful yesterday. Those two offsides penalties didn't help either. He didn't have a tackle either. I know his wrists are not 100% but if hes not going to provide anything, then Id rather see someone out there who can atleast provide some pash rush. Hell, it can't hurt to give Tafoya a shot. I thought Traylor played tremendous yesterday stepping up to help fill the void of Ted Washington. This secondary is brutal. Ted's lose was big but I still think RW's lose is the biggest. These guys like Austin and McMillon should be playing nickle at best. Also, Im hardly impressed with Mike Green. I know the Bears staff has said they feel hes a "special" player, but I think theres a reason this guy was Mr. Irrelevent. We definately need another safety to go along with Brown. I liked Gray but unfortunately hes not out for the season. Luckily Damion Shelton returns this week. It will be interesting to see how Atrain runs this week. He doesn't seem to be the same back he was last year. His cuts are just awful. There have been so many times this year I've found myself screaming for him to bounce it outside thinking he could pick up more yardage. Instead he runs into the pile and gets a whole 1 or 2 lousy yards. It's nice to see the Bears utilizing their TE's and FB's. Pritchett and Davis had two if the biggest catches yesterday when they were needed. As far as Shoop goes, I thought that 3rd and 2 playcall was horrible. You just got 4 yards on consecutive plays, pound it and try to get the 2 yards. Or if your going to try and get 2 yards throwing, THROW FOR THE DAMN 2 YARDS! I hate this crap with all these swing passes and WR screens where they rely on the guy to get some blocks and run for the yards. Call a play where Miller can hit his man across the first down line so the receiever doesn't have to run. The play on the final drive to Lyman was just stupid. They're on the Saints 44 and they throw for...6 yards? And worst of all Lyman doesn't get out on bounds so the clock keeps going. I thought Miller played another good game. Hes been getting the job done for the most part. The last play, I can't say I give him too much blame. Dez did run the wrong route so Miller had to either throw it away and take one more shot or force it and hope its caught. I personally would have rather seen him force it. He wouldn't have gotten a much better look on the next pass if he did decide to throw it away so he would have had to force that one also. David Terrell definately needs to play more. I don't care how he looks in practice. He has done fine in the games. Lets face it, at this point he can't do much worse than Dez, and Marcus still can't contribute much since he is basically limited to running Fly patterns, and catching WR screens. It's time the Bears find an actual threat in their return game. All around the league guys are running back kicks/punts for TD's. Through 3 games there have been 10 returns for TD's. Yet the Bears have trouble scratching out a measly 20 yards. It's sad. I hope Ahmad Merritt can do it or else it's time to start looking to other teams. Maybe there is someone on another teams practice squad who we can give a chance. I wouldn't mind seeing them give Darrick Vaughn a chance. The Bears coverage on special teams has been bad also. Anyone know what Frankie Smith is doing these days? We could really use him. I don't think he is currently on an NFL roster but I could be wrong. Ok thats my thoughts. Feel free to agree or disagree with me or give me your thoughts.
RedPinStripes
Good rant! I can't disagree with it though. They really pissed me off last week.
