whitesoxfan101
Boy, for a #1 seed, UNC has a very tough road to the title.
JuiceCruz16
There is a debate about wheather it is better to win your conference tourney, if you have to battle out 3 tough games in a row, or is it better to go out a bit early with the real tournament starting next week. UNC seems to have a #1 seed locked up so a lose would not mean that much for their NCAA seeding. Roy has been accused of taking the foot of the pedal for the ACC tourney in similar situations in the past. Last year they battled out tough ones every step of the way to the title, who knows it should be fun anyway. Many beleive Pitt winning the Big East last year in such a rugged fashion may have hurt them.

Well, it's not that big of a thing if you lose in some situations, and in can be a negative to win out in others. Pitt was worn out during that crazy run to the Big East crown last year. It can be a benifit in some cases to bow out if it does not effect your seed. I will root HARD for my Heels to win the tourney, but I'm fine if they don't and stay healthy and rested as a 1 seed overall. I would be curious to see the results of NCAA winners and how they fared in their conference tournaments the last 20 years or so. zenryan
Season is 3 minutes away from ending for Miami. Cant say I'm upset to be honest. This team is so flawed and everyone had career year's last year so people expected more. McClinton is injured and cant do much and since he doesnt make his teammates better, no one can step up when he isnt scoring. This team is void of any legit scoring options outside of McClinton. Last season when we played out of our ass really gave us Miami fans false hope for this season. Hopefully we dont accept an NIT bid and just call it a season. We got some good guys coming in next season so we need to build for 2010-2011 by playing these guys a lot next season.
JuiceCruz16
I would be surprised if Ty Lawson plays at all in the ACC tourney. Uncle Roy has already made comments about the NCAA being what it's about this time of year and with their seed being all but locked up it seems like the ACC tourney results will be looked at as simply a bonus if they can win it. Ty's toe has swollen up much more then it had before after he played on it with the help of pain shots for the Duke game.

fathom
QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) I'm happy GT beat Clemson, but now I'm worried about playing them for some reason. Hopefully we win and VT beats UNC. GT is playing good ball lately, as Lewis Clinch has turned into a scoring machine. It was a terrible year, as the 2-14 illustrates. However, with decent coaching and any luck, they would have been 10-6. I believe they lost 8 conference games in which they led or tied with 2 minutes or less. Capn12
Clemson is an absolute joke, as always every year they go undefeated against Pork and Bean State, Sisters of the Poor University, etc. Then the real season starts, the ACC, and they show their true nature: an average team in a conference that they can't succeed in. Congrats on your 1 and done Clemmers, and prepare for the same next week.
Brian
Upset Alert. Va tech up 5 with 10 mins left on NC. Lawson not playing.
Brian
This maybe the worst display of defensive rebounding I have ever seen by Va Tech.
JuiceCruz16
That game meant SO much more to Va. Tech. It is reminisent of last year when Tyler hit the 15 footer at the buzzer to beat them and knock them out of the NCAA tournament. Without Lawson this was a golden oppurtunity for the Hokies. I'll take the win, but I'm happy Ty is sitting. He wasn't 100% throughout the tourney last year with his bum ankle, hopefully they will do everything they can to have him at full speed this year come tournament time. Jimbo's Drinker
Boy, UNC was given a gift in that game. Really, 3 fouls in 19 minutes in the second half.....and the amazing defensive play by TH at the end was such a foul.

Really, 3 fouls in 19 minutes in the second half.....and the amazing defensive play by TH at the end was such a foul. Yep three fouls was about right. The play at the end could have went either way. Please Va. Tech had every chance the refs played ZERO part in them not taking advantage of a golden oppurtunity to make the NCAA. Again I almost wish they would have won, it would have meant so much more to them. Not much of a difference maker for the Heels win or lose. whitesoxfan101
I can't remember a talented team who loses as many close games as Virginia Tech, and really this goes back earlier than this year. A consistent problem with winning close games, in my opinion, is an indictment of the coach, and although Seth Greenburg has a pretty good record and gets good players at a football school like Tech, at the end of the day his teams just can't get it done when it really counts, and that is a disturbing trend for their fans. As for Georgia Tech, they are so frusterating to watch. They have a world of talent, but it just goes to waste because of how incredibly poorly coached they are, and they are a team even moreso than Virginia Tech who finds a way to lose an amazing amount of close games. whitesoxbrian
Duke hits 4 threes on 4 straight possessions (Singler x2, Smith, Scheyer). Yet, it's tied. This is a prime example of why Duke will have another year of into the sweet-16 and right out. The best they could do is the elite-8 IMO. chimpy2121
I don't care if they didn't have Lawson. I don't care if they didn't want to play tomorrow. We beat UNC and I'm stoked. We're FSU basketball and we've never been in a championship game in the ACC. Yes, UNC would have beaten us if they had Lawson, but I don't care. Haha. Sorry, I'm pumped. Hopefully this lets us go to Miami for the regional because you know I'll be there.
Palehosefan
Congrats Chimpy, FSU played a very solid game. Hopefully Roy is saving his timeouts for a good cause. Never seen such a great coach as Roy so overwhelmed in end-game situations. It's amazing.
