Soxbadger
Wisconsin can just not put teams away this year. I dont know how many times theyve had leads in the final minutes only to not score any points. 10-1 run by OSU as of now, just unacceptable. RockRaines
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 03:33 PM) Wisconsin can just not put teams away this year. I dont know how many times theyve had leads in the final minutes only to not score any points. 10-1 run by OSU as of now, just unacceptable. Bucky had every chance to take that game. It was frustrating to see that most of the game was spent with key players from both teams in foul trouble.
Soxbadger
They had plenty of chances this season to make sure that they were a lock for the NCAA tournament, I think that they will still be in, you just hate to leave it to chance. If they do get in, this loss may be a good thing as it will likely move them down from a 8/9 seed to a 10/11 which would mean they wont have the 1 seed to face. This game really brought me back to the classic game that was on a few days ago between our teams, these guys couldnt hold a candle to those teams so I think we are both in for a first game dissapointment in the tourney. Soxbadger
Wisconsin's 1999 team wouldnt deserve to be on the court with any Bo Ryan team, yet the 1999 team went to the Final Four and Bo Ryan has never been there. Its not always about talent, some times its about match ups and breaks.
Jimbo's Drinker
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) Wisconsin's 1999 team wouldnt deserve to be on the court with any Bo Ryan team, yet the 1999 team went to the Final Four and Bo Ryan has never been there. Its not always about talent, some times its about match ups and breaks. Breaks is a big part of it, and also good coaching staffs. The ability to break down a team at rapid pace is very difficult. Jenksismyhero
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) They know already (I heard that three days ago, and had it confirmed two days ago, so I'm sure they have heard about it too) and the seeding will reflect that. He apparently had surgery for a broken hand. Pretty amazing you heard it three days ago when it just happened Wednesday... Sucks for Frazier. I hated him so much his first three years, but he really changed my mind this year. I hope Weber uses his connections and gets this kid on a bench soon. Sucks for Frazier. I hated him so much his first three years, but he really changed my mind this year. I hope Weber uses his connections and gets this kid on a bench soon. I heard he got hurt three days ago, and heard he was going to have surgery two days ago. I'm not saying it's accurate (I didn't post it after all, which tells you my level of trust in it, plus I couldn't even hear which hand it was) but that was the timeline. As for Frazier, he'll be coaching somewhere. I hope Bruce finds room for him on the staff, but we'll see. And I am AMAZED the Big Ten is going to get 6, 7, or even 8 teams in the NCAA Tournament as I watch it. The product isn't anywhere near as good as it was early on this decade when the league last had this many tournament teams. whitesoxfan99
Trent Meacham has to be the worst shooting 40% 3 pt shooter ever. Make a damn wide open shot. I don't expect a ton out of him but for a guy who is a good shooter he has really sucked at making open shots in Big 10 play.
Felix
Oh well. Hopefully our win against Northwestern is enough to get in, it'd be great to see this team in the tournament. I think we're in, but who knows?

whitesoxfan99
Really nice win for Illinois today. If I'm Weber I give the bench a ton of PT tomorrow. I'd like for them to win but it isn't a very big game in the grand scheme of things. Rather have fresh legs going into the tourney and I'd like to get Legion some confidence. Trent had been awful for a while now, so he was due to be useful for once. I don't think you look like an idiot for making that comment. I heard from a guy at the Suntimes that he is all but gone, but we'll see. He and Mullens are gone. Both should stay because their games arent ready for the NBA, but both will leave for the money. Im just hoping Buford stays at this point. If by some miracle all three stayed I would be very happy.
Jenksismyhero
That Illinois game was so awful, words don't even describe. I'd like to credit Purdue's defense, but nearly every shot they got was wide open and they just couldn't hit anything. I will credit Purdue for closing out the paint, which is the strategy to beat Illinois. And was anyone else a little puzzled at Kellogg saying Illinois is an 8 or 9 seed? Really? I thought 5 at best, 6 at worst.
The Bones
Ugh...I was at the BTT on Saturday and it's hard to say who shot worse Illinois or Michigan St. I mean Illinois was ugly but we've seen that from them before. MSU was 3-21 from 3-point range. Just two really bad shooting performances back-to-back. I think Illinois is anywhere from a 5 to 7 seed. It depends how much they take into account Frazier's injury and yesterday's abysmal performance. I would be shocked if they are an 8 seed or worse. I agree that Mullens and Buford aren't ready, but Turner looks like a guy that would be wise to leave, he seems pretty ready. Like you said though, two or all three leaving wouldn't be a surprise considering this draft class, plus as you've mentioned, Mullens needs the money (I'm not sure of Buford or Turner and their families financial situations.) Ohio State is the one Big 10 team that I think could surprise in the NCAA Tournament though because they have so much talent. They shoot the ball very well, and I think they might have a scoring outburst in the tournament due to the liberation of not having to play at a Big 10 pace or with Big 10 refs in the dance. I guess Purdue could also make a run now that they are healthy, but I still think they are too small and weak on the interior to do so. As for Illinois, I'd be surprised if they aren't a 6 seed. I guess in theory they could be a 5 because the field is so bad, or a 7 because Frazier is hurt, but to me, they are a definite 6 seed. I thought it was pretty obvious they missed Chester yesterday, but the real reason that game got ugly was the incredible amount of missed open shots they had. I've seen Illinois have plenty of shooting droughts this year, but never when so many of the shots were open.
