Mr Angelo, please trade for Jay Cutler!

It will really depend on what package ends up getting Cutler. If it looks like something the Bears could have reasonably matched or beat, we'll be hearing about this for years to come. "Crede woulda had that!" will become "Cutler woulda completed that!"

Great post. I think the non-moron-fan will be able to judge whether or not there was a reasonable deal for the bears to make and will judge Angelo based on the merits of the deal made.

I disagree. Go to the official Bears boards and you will see non-moron fans are simply not in abundance.

Except we know this won't be the case. Let's say the Redskins, who appear to be the favorites, give up a two firsts and a second or a third, which would be short bus retarded. You're going to have every fan from 15 to 75 screaming at the top of their lungs "WHAT! THAT'S ALL IT TOOK! DRAFT PICKS! I WANT EVERYBODY FIRED!" You know it's coming.

short bus retarded? Please...

Angelo's 1st round picks Columbo - Haynes - Grossman - Tommie Harris - Benson - DManning - Olsen - Williams - would you give up 2 of those for an above average QB - i sure as hell would

lets see....Williams is still questionable but as of now thats 2 out of 8 that have been a good thing for the bears...

So a 25% hit rate....s*** with that number I'd give them 3 #1s for an above average QB....

I love how there are 17 pages in this thread at soxtalk....but all the threads combined over at talkbears is only like 7-9....what gives?

I browse there anymore, its hard to converse on talkbears. THose guys all have an extreme love-hate relationship with the Bears, and sometimes it just isnt reasonable conversation

Sorry, past draft history has absolutely nothing to do with 2009 and beyond.

Why?

because Angelo will start making better choices? I think it is a very valid point, I would give up 2 first rounders and the salary that goes along with it for an above average QB who has already proved he can play in the NFL...rather than watching Angelo try and fail again with high round draft picks...s*** if we have to throw in a 3rd or 2nd round go for it....

I think you value your draft picks way too high just like the Bears brass...

ESPN BREAKING NEWS: Broncos agree in principle to trade Jay Cutler to the Bears

More on sportscenter tonight.

EDIT:

The Bears acquired quarterback Jay Cutler today for No. 1 draft picks in 2009 and 2010, a No. 3 pick this year and Kyle Orton, the Sun-Times has learned.

The Bears receive the Broncos' fifth-round draft pick this year.

Bingo! And you knew this was coming the moment it was even insinuated that Cutler could be available. It's not nearly as simple as "GIVE THEM WHATEVER THEY WANT FOR CUTLER!" And the sad thing is that if the Bears don't get him, it's going to be automatically assumed that they dropped the ball.

It's a moot point now, lol. Doesn't look like the Bears bid against themselves either.

Think about the possibility of this being the rest of our offseason:

-Sign Pace, Holt, and Lucas.

-Trade our 1st and 3rd this year, a conditional pick in 2010 that can become a 1st rounder (automatically a 2nd or 3rd round pick no matter what), Orton, and one of Vasher, McBride or Graham (whichever one Denver feels would be the best fit, I think it would be Graham) for Cutler. I think/hope that would get the deal done.

That's jizz worthy right there.

Bears just signed Pace. Time to do some laundry.
