DaTank
http://twitter.com/cst_sox We're told the Sox are announcing news at 12:30 pm PT. Maybe coaching contract extensions? Or a trade? Maybe neither. Life on the beat.

Kalapse
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 22, 2009 -> 01:55 PM) Please be a trade for a CF not named Pierre or Podsednik According to Cowley it could be Pierre. He says the source isn't a very good one, however. Just kill me now.
DaTank
Cowley said he heard it could be Juan Pierre...from an unreliable source, however.
Kalapse
It would be fitting; preach OBP at the top for the entire offseason then acquire an incredibly expensive player with a sub .330 OBP over the past 4 years in the national league to take the spot. Kalapse
Joe Cowley is a f***ing idiot, I don't even know why I bother reading his f***ing Twitter.
justBLAZE
Haha, do you think Hahn actually reads Cowley? Now we're hearing we might all be disappointed with the "big news." And Rick Hahn has informed me that my sources stink. Thanks for reading Rick. Now go get a leadoff hitter and get back to me.
fathom
Rick Hahn told Cowley his sources stink, and it's not big news that is being announced.

justBLAZE
Cowley is way to excited, it probably is some kind of trade?
Kenny Hates Prospects
Damnit, I come here to check if there's a game on today and I see the Sox announcing news, and I get excited thinking maybe we've got someone. It's not even one page into this thread and I'm already told I'll be disappointed. f***. At least it isn't Pierre though.

justBLAZE
Gavin Floyd for 4 more years $15.5 million. Edited March 22, 2009 by tommy
Kenny Hates Prospects
Per MLB Trade Rumors: SUNDAY, 11:21am: According to Carroll Rogers of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, while the Braves are happy to maintain the surplus they've acquired, they are anticipating offers. Rogers says the most likely source of trade candidates would come from the bullpen, but she includes Josh Anderson and Martin Prado as expendable position players. Rogers posits seeking a third basemen as a successor to Chipper Jones could be a logical area of interest for the Braves. SATURDAY, 6:01pm: Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports that Braves GM Frank Wren may look to trade surplus pitching as the season nears. According to Bowman, "Wren has already started to receive a number of pitches from teams that need arms." Bowman writes that the "most expendable pitchers" appear to be Jeff Bennett, Buddy Carlyle, Manny Acosta and Jorge Campillo. Josh Anderson was mentioned on here by someone recently as a CF candidate. I disagree... its really affordable, and if Floyd has a year anything like the last year, he will be really underpaid.
