Gload & Miles in the AAA all star game

Hey, I was fortunate enough to catch some of the AAA all star game last night on ESPN2 while flipping tv channels. It was actually my first chance to actally see Gload and Miles. I was impressed by both of them. Gload had a couple hits and ripped the ball every time up (of course all the IL stars were hitting last night). He has a good looking lefty swing and the ball seemed to jump off his bat stronger then you would think to look at effort in his swing. I don't hear much about him when we talk about the future of the Sox, but at the least, he should be some valuable trade bait in the near future.

Aaron Miles got into the second half of the game and the announcers remarked on how he reminded them of Fernando Vina from the other side of the plate. He is indeed scrappy, but he swung a pretty good bat also, getting on at least a couple times, including a good rip for a single to drive a guy in in the 7th. I sure hope he can wind up being acceptable defensively, because he sure looks like a gamer.

I didn't catch the whole game and didn't see the rosters, so I don't know if any other Knights were in the game. I don't think Borchard was there, as a Pawtucket speedster was manning CF the entire game. I don't think any Knight pitchers were there either (as if any deserved to be!).

BTW, has Charlotte always worn green on their uniforms? I thought used to wear red and blue.

Does anyone else have any thoughts on the game?

I saw the 1st half of the game and was impressed with Gload. I saw him a few times when he got a cup of coffee with the Cubs and he looked like he had a shot compact swing that could suceed at the major league level. The thing I liked about his 1st AB was that he was down 0-2 in the count and he shorted his stroke and hit a liner to second on a good pitchers pitch. In his second AB he hit the hardest ball I say(in the 1st half of the game). It was about 5 feet away from being a HR as it hit mid way up the wall in the power alley. The announcers(Buck Martinez and someone else) said that he was a very good defensive 1B and he appeared to be a very good athlete as well(especially compared to Konerko). I wouldn't mind the Sox getting rid of Konerko(and a mid-level prospect for Ponson for example) and giving this guy a shot. You have to be more then lucky to have a career minor league average in the .330's.

I didn't get to see Miles because I only watched the 1st 5 innings.
