Paint it Black
QUOTE (rangercal @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 04:48 PM) Maybe our organization should stop acting 2nd class. Many here (including myself) get annoyed at ESPN being east coast biased. Maybe they pay more attention to the Red Sox and Yanks because they are a class above us. At least we have mullet night lol wut? Sure the Fisk thing did not look good, but that was 1993. I don't really understand how anybody could call the recent organization classless when it was very clear Frank's White Sox career was going to be over and I remember him sounds very content with it, until he ran his mouth for some reason. Face it, baseball is a business, and they got better with the upgrade in Thome. Frank was a great player, but when organizations keep guys around for sentimental value, you become the Houston Astros. southsider2k5
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) I would love to see the Big Hurt back here in a Sox uniform. But, remmeber this is the same organization that let Fisk go during the 1993 season And then brought him back to honor him with a motorcycle, retired his number, and made a statue for the guy. Bad example.
Texsox
Frank never hired Boras as an agent. Never went to his own doctors instead of the team's choice. And was dumped anyways.

And was dumped anyways. Frank went to his own doctor. His doctor gave Jerry Manuel a note that he didn't have to run some drill in spring training. rangercal
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 07:54 AM) WTF do I know? http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/...es-above-bench/ You know how to twist my words around. I specifically said greatest White Sox player, not greatest career. Collins played half his career with a different uniform. Are you going to throw Carlton, Seaver and Griffey Jr. at me too? WCSox
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 06:53 AM) 1. he wasn't the greatest player who ever played for the sox, that would be eddie collins Or maybe Shoeless Joe or Ed Walsh. IMO, there's no one player that stands out as the Sox GOAT. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) The Big Hurt burned those bridges after 2005. I would love for this to happen, but it will take a long time. I agree that Frank won't be playing in Chicago as long as Kenny's the GM. Too much bad history, too many personality conflicts between the two, and Frank would probably never make it out of Charlotte.
Hatchetman
frank had 8600 plate appearances for the sox, collins 7400. that's close enough for comparison.

If you compare White Sox Careers: Thomas has a higher OBP, OPS and SLG %. He also has more Hits,Walks, Total Bases, Runs,RBI, HR,Doubles and extra base hits. Collins has Thomas on Batting Average and Stolen bases. Checkmate

Frank may be the best hitter in White Sox history, of course the eras issue will always come up, but Frank with the leather was scary. mr_genius
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) The Sox have a DH. Frank has nowhere to play. If by bring him back you mean not to play but to retire as a White Sox, I fail to see what that accomplishes. I'm sure when the time is right, Frank will be offered some sort of role with the White Sox. Maybe he can be an "ambassador" like Fisk. Even Fisk didn't know what that meant. Thomas would be a better White Sox ambassador (whater that is) than Fisk. Fisk is in the hall as a Red Sox.

Soxpranos
This thread looks like Kenny and Frank in the G.M.'s office. One reason they wont bring him back, to much back and forth non sense.
