HuskyCaucasian
I was listening to The Score about an hour ago and I swear I heard Zack say he ran into Plaxico while at the Final 4 and apparently Cutler has contacted him about coming to play with him in Chicago. Just thought I would pass that along.

HuskyCaucasian
Can someone clarify something for me? I havent been following Plaxico's case, isnt he in line for some significant jail time? If so, why would ANYONE want to sign him until his jail term is over.

I highly doubt the Bears would be quick to sign this idiot either, you know after booting Benson and Tank for lesser crimes.

Watch him cut some sort of a deal like Jamal Lewis where he serves a good portion of his jailtime in the offseason. Honestly I think that a Plax move is going to be extreme boom or bust

The mayor called for 3 1/2 years, which won't happen, but they got a continuance a week or two ago because, according to reports, the DA basically said they are demanding jail and Plax wasn't willing. Basically having experience in the IL crim courts I would say he will do somewhere around 6 months, I just can't see him walking with probation only on this. IMO the dumbest thing he can do is piss the judge off by not accepting an offer and force him or her to decide his sentence. (Yes, I know everyone has a right to trial and if that what Plax wants to do he should have every right to do so and shouldn't be punished in sentencing for doing so, but I also live in reality.) CanOfCorn
You guys are also forgetting about Goddell time. There's a good chance he's going to be suspended for part or all of next season, depending on jail time. Give me Torry.

Honestly I think that a Plax move is going to be extreme boom or bust He had the opportunity to make a deal and, against the advice of his lawyers, turned it down because he does not want to serve any jail time. That's one reason why he was finally cut.

The guy is always on the injured list(which is where he was when he made a peephole in his thigh) and he really cannot stay out of trouble with the law. I am pretty sure I just read that he recieved his 5th ticket in the last month in Florida. edit: yep, 5th in a month http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4045389 Burress, who the police report said was driving like "he was going to kill somebody," was issued a $150 speeding citation, his fifth traffic ticket in Florida in the past month, the report said. According to the police, a "violent and aggressive" 31-year-old Burress was asked to get out of his car in order to be checked for weapons. "You're going to hear about this by the end of your shift," said Burress, who has a house in South Florida, as he returned to his car, according to the newspaper report. Burress also received tickets for going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone, improper tags, improper lane change and improper window tinting on March 1, the Post reported Edited April 6, 2009 by kyyle23

lostfan
I remember when Plaxico was getting drafted, he was being interviewed by some NFL team and during the interview he stopped to answer a cellphone call from one of his boys. There is no doubt he can play, but he is the definition of a head case.

Dick Allen
If the Bears signed Plaxico and there was one problem, everyone involved in signing him should immediately be fired. I really think there is zero chance Angelo is even considering bringing this knucklehead in. T. O. is an angel compared to this guy. Character should count for something. It amazes me how many people on this board want him in a Bears uniform, like he'll really be a changed person by all of this. If anything, judging by his traffic offenses and responses, he still thinks he's invincible. Avoiding a lengthy jail sentence and/or a lengthy suspension by the NFL would only make his head grow larger and he would act like even a bigger idiot. If we added T.O. (for one year only) and Cutler... man, I would say we would have had to be considered as STRONG contenders in the NFC. At least a top 3 team. Chisoxfn
Given that TO has zero off the field issues and the fact that he'd clearly be the focal point of the passing attack, a Cutler Owens combo would have been the fantastic stop gap necessary for the Bears to get things turned over to Hester/Bennett (if in fact they believe in that duo). I expect them to surprise us and get in big with Holt, just too good of a fit. And I think the more Holt things about things, he'll see that there is more potential for him to put up numbers in Chicago and truly be a savior as opposed to Tennesse where he'll be playing with a far worse QB (no knock on Collins, just pointing out how good Cutler is). I'd also argue the Bears would have a strong chance at making the superbowl since they would be playing in the NFC as opposed to the AFC, so Holt might just have a better chance to win in Chicago (however, the Titans obviously have already proven very recently how good of a team they already are). Although...despite how they looked in the 1-2 games he was out last year, the Titans defense is now Sans Haynesworth. And in a full season, that's going to sting. Who would have thought that out of Denver, Tennessee, and Arizona, the 3 teams that grabbed 1st round QB's in 05, the team that would wind up with the one most people think is the best would be the Bears? We're gonna say all this even without knowing the contract parameters are? I mean, I'm all for getting quality guys here - but Rashied Davis is a quality guy who just cant play the position. Lets have him brought in super cheap. If issues arise it was low-risk to begin with. After all we have no WRs at the moment who have done much so he's taking no one's time.
