Titans are starting to put things together.

Kris Brown continues to miss clutch kicks, that is 2 games straight where the game should have went into OT. I like the Texans but this seems like another 8-8 year for them unfortunately.

Gary Kubiak is awful. With eight seconds left and a timeout, why didn't he try for more yards at the end, instead of settling for a 49-yard field goal, hardly a chip shot? And Steve Slaton averages over a yard more than Chris Brown, yet Brown gets twice as many carries. I know Slaton has had some fumbling problems, but that makes no sense.

Donald Driver & Greg Jennings vs. Devin Hester & Johnny Knox. Not to mention that A-rodg gets sacked half the time because he holds the ball for 90 seconds. Cutler avoids plenty of rushes, exponentially more than any qb we've had the past several years, but he can't escape it every time.

I just don't get it really. One series, Cutler will march down the field 80 yards looking sick, then the next series we'll go 3 and out with a failed WR screen, a run up the middle, then a slant for 3 yards. Why can't we run the plays that march us 80 yards? Why does the coaching staff insist on shoving plays that haven't worked all year and will never work? Why do we call a WR screen that starts -2 yards when we need 8 for a first down? Why is it we run the same set of 3 plays every time in the red zone when we have 3 big and fast TE's?

I certainly don't know the answers to these questions, but I can guess at one of them. This team believes that Hester and to a certain extent, Knox, are playmakers. Put the ball in their hands and anything can happen. Well, that's true, but you need some blocking in front of them and a guy who doesn't mind contact (I'm looking at you, Devin). With the crap-ass season Forte is having, for whatever reason, opponent's defenses are loading up on the pass. And until the Bears can make them pay, either with better pass protection or more big runs, we are going to see more of the same for the next 6 games.

As a side note, I hope someone puts Jared Allen on his ass and drives his mullet through his skull.

I don't think Hester's been shying away from contact, at least i haven't seen it that much. He's gotten hammered pretty hard, and there's nowhere you get hit harder than on special teams, where he came from.

Bennett and Knox though... yeah. They probably account for 5 of Cutler's INTs just on that alone.

No I agree with CanofCorn. Devin is more or less the one who definitely is shying away from it. The usual catch then go to the ground or just go out of bounds (especially on kick offs) has always been his M.O. (he used to just take it to the house all the damn time on special teams back then which of course.. you don't get contact) Bennett I've actually been impressed with the beatings hes taken this year with some of the grabs and getting hammered. He's caught alot of balls in the middle and just paid the price. You can only count on one hand the amount of times he just went to the ground/etc..

Knox though I pretty much agree with. Olsen is quickly getting up there as well. Since that helmet to helmet, he's been shying away himself.

Yea, I didn't understand that either, why they didn't try for more yards when they had a TO left.

I knew Brown would miss that FG, typical of him, just had a feeling he would.

Looking forward to some Thanksgiving football even though there are no real good matchups. This game could be a trap for the Packers, Detroit will throw Stafford at them for the first time and without Harris and Kampman, things should be close.

Regardless, this is a game they have to win.

Hester started this thing where he catches it and as soon as he thinks he's gonna be hit, he either runs out of bounds or dives to the ground. Bennett has gotten killed over the middle a couple of times, but that's his job as the "slow" receiver. Knox I haven't seen enough of to say one way or the other.

See most receivers in the NFL. Especially Wes Welker who everyone loves.

There is nothing wrong in my mind with going to the ground or getting out of bounds. There is rarely anything to gain by trying to be Walter Payton and dishing out the punishment, especially when you weigh less than 200 pounds. Elite receivers like Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Tory Holt and Isaac Bruce, to name a few, have all been employing this strategy for the last several years, both to prolong their own careers, and to avoid getting held up and stripped in an ill-fated attempt to gain an extra yard.

The key is that they continue to catch the ball and finish their routes. If it gets to the point where they are alligator-arming s*** to avoid hits, that is where it gets to be a problem. I haven't seen that from any of our receivers yet though.

Sweet deal. Megatron (Calvin) I'm hearing will be out as well. He hasn't been participating in practice, hand and knee injury. If he doesn't play that is huge for Green Bay.

Good thing Stafford is out, I had a feeling the game would come down to the wire with Stafford in.

Hoping for the teams to bust out the retro unis on Thanksgiving, always was a fan of that.

If the Titans can beat the Cardinals and Colts in their next two games, they have a serious shot at making the playoffs. I don't think they'll win either of those two games though.

Dunno if anyone mentioned the rumors swirling around the coaching staff.

A) Mike Martz coming in after the end of the season to be OC. (more likely of the two).

B) The Brass at Halas Hall looking into Shannahan, Gruden, Cowher (which the Bears deny).

Personally, I think it's a horrible idea to try and force 1 year of Mike Martz in here in hopes that he can help save Lovie's job. It just seems like an accident waiting to happen and another wasted year of Cutler's career. I wish the Bears would just bite the Bullet and bring in one of the aforementioned coaches to right this ship. Fire Angelo and Lovie and bring in some true talent evaluators to rebuild the franchise. It would be expensive -- paying off Lovie and Angelo -- but if you hire Shannahan or Gruden you get them for the pro-rated version of whatever was left on their previous contracts. You would have to assume that Shannahan would like to be reunited with his pupil... right?

Love him or hate him, Martz has had some QBs under his tutelage that have put up some pretty big numbers. I dont know that it would be a wasted year in Cutlers career.

But I agree, it is just a stopgap

I read the rumors in the SunTimes today. I think Martz would be a good idea. Cutler is a guy who easily can throw the deep ball even in terrible conditions. Martz is an offensive guru who would have decent parts to work with. I think he would easily be a good hire since he also could help improve Forte.

I don't see Angelo getting fired, and I see the Bears giving Lovie one more year. It would be just wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too expensive to fire the administration, even if you're a non-Bears fan who is not used to the cheap nature of the Bears front office.

And guys like Cowher, Holmgren, Shannahan, Gruden will be available next year. Maybe not all of them, but probably at least 3 of them. Cowher for sure is not going to settle for a job unless it's with a storied franchise(btw, I think he's overrated). Gruden will demand some cash and control. Holmgren and Shannahan are the only guys I would actually give it to. Shannahan and Cowher are the only guys I see being hired at this point in time. Shan with the Bills and Cowher with Dallas or the Texans.

Seriously? This is what the NFL has to offer? We get tortured having to watch the Lions play every f***ing year, and now the Raiders are down 17 at half vs Dallas. Last year, we got to all watch Seattle get blown out in Dallas, too.

At least the Lions game was a conference game.

And I like the CBS coverage of the Cowboy cheerleaders. They give it a "softcore porn" type touch.
