"No question, we developed some young players,'' Turner said. "We had three new offensive linemen, two of which had really never played before. We had Chris (Williams) playing on the right side, a position he hadn't played, and we had three receivers that had never played before with a new quarterback.

"You look at where we were at the start and then at the end, they're different players. You don't just bring in a quarterback with that many new players and click right away. It takes time, sometimes years. There's no question, it's going to take off."

Can't say that he doesn't make a few good points.

I don't see that in Chicago for a couple of reasons. He knows if the Bears don't perform, Lovie is gone, so there wouldn't be much angling to do anyway. Also, Lovie is his buddy. I don't think he would screw over Lovie for that fact alone.

If Lovie was gone, he would be lobbying for the newly created opening at head coach, just like he did in Detroit, and just like he did in San Fran. It makes perfect sense.

And are Martz and Lovie buddies? Or did they just coach on the same team together?

They are actually buddies. He lobbied for the Bears to hire him. Also, with the whole 2011 thing looming, the Bears won't fire Lovie midseason to hire Martz. If they're going to fire him, it's going to be for Cowher.

No, not midseason firing and hiring. end of season. And I dont think Martz would get it, but I would not want the distraction that happened in Detroit and San Fran

If I was a Bears fan, I would. The Bears need a revamped offense IMO. The best candidate other than Martz would be Terry Shea. He was everyone's favorite until Grossman got injured in game 2 or 3 and lost for the season. Then it was learned that unless you have a cannon for an arm, you couldn't run the offense. I think he got a raw deal, but I know the Bears wouldn't dare bring him back.

You lost me there with Shea. No way, no how.

The Bills had the #2 pass defense in the league I think or something similar, and guys like Jairus Byrd at FS really had terrific seasons.

Maybe he could actually make something out of Daniel Manning.

And the Bills, as usual, did so with a fairly mundane pass rush, a bust of a 1st round pick in Maybin, and the usual "so many injuries year after year that you start questioning their conditioning team".

Should be an exciting first round of the NFL playoffs.

I like the Jets over the Bengals again, Cincy has just looked awful for the past four weeks now. This game should stay relatively close because Sanchez is mistake-prone. But that defense is going to lock down the Bengals offense again imo, Palmer needs to step up.

The Cowboys Eagles should be a battle, I can't see Dallas beating Philadelphia for a third time so I'm taking Philly. I think I'll be wrong though because Dallas is playing well as of late. Philly needs to get some sort of a running game going and be the first to score.

I'm most looking forward to Sunday's games, they should be the closest imo.

I have no idea who will win the Patriots and Ravens bout. I'm taking Baltimore solely because of the Welker injury. Baltimore imo is the best of the 4 AFC teams playing in the first round and their offense is clicking at the right time.

Packers vs. Cardinals, obviously I'm taking Green Bay because of bias. I do think they should win, they have been playing just as good of football as anyone of late but I am worried that Green Bay comes in over confident after the Wk 17 blowout.

Changed my mind.

Bengals over Jets

Cowboys over Eagles.

I find it odd the Bears fired the TE coach. Clark and Olsen are pretty damn effective even though Desmond dropped some passes this year.

Sounds like a firing to make it look like they are firing someone.

Hub said on the Score last night that the ONLY returning offensive coaches are.... Lovie Smith's guys.

Was anyone seriously wowed by Olsen's performance this year?

Bingo. For all practical purposes, Olsen has been a bust so far.

After looking at his nubmers this year I certainly wouldn't call him a bust, he was 10th in the league in catches as a TE, tied for 4th in the league in TD's as a TE. But he's not exactly Dallas Clark or Vernon Davis just yet, so he's not a pro bowler/star.

They got zero development out of Greg Olsen.

That's blasphemy.

He's not exactly been a star, but you try developing under Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton.

I think they utilize him incorrectly. Additionally, he was basically the first weapon opposing defenses tried to take away in the passing game this year, as opposed to Clark or Witten, who are the second or third weapon a defense tries to contain.

Perhaps he will be utilized better under the new OC and we will see him develop even further.
