...and 12 hours after the game ends...it begins.

Brett Favre told ESPN's Ed Werder that it's "highly unlikely" he'll play again.

We all know this doesn't mean that much, especially hours after a brutal NFC Championship Game loss in which he took numerous big hits. Favre put together the best statistical season of his career in 2009 and the Vikings will remain largely intact next year. He'll almost certainly get the itch to play again at some point down the line. Jan. 25 - 8:52 am et

oh good lord. He'll be back. we all know it. Mr Drama Queen/Attention Whore is at it again.

So the Bears are being snubbed by guys who would rather sign with the Oakland Raiders now?

The decision to keep Lovie on for a "one and done" and to can Ron Turner without having a successor in place is ridiculous. This team is an utter joke right now, and is going to go into next season having downgraded their OC. No one wants to sign a contract to play under a coach already on the hot seat.

This team is screwed, and Jay must really be hating that forced trade.

Ding ding ding! IT's really almost becoming not an option now. Lovie has to go. Jerry doesnt want Martz for OC, but he's one of the few people left who might actually take the job.

Oh, and Tice being promoted scares me. I think every third word he said after getting hired was "run". Combine that with Lovie's "we get off the bus running". Next year wont be pretty.

Mike Florio was just saying this on ESPN radio. No one wants their job to be dependent on the resurgence of Jay Cutler when there is no job security after this season. Bates was their target, and once he declined, everything went to hell. Anyone with the option of going to a team with a little more stability will take it even if they don't have a QB with Cutler's ability.

A good offensive mind will see the 8TD's Cutler threw. Not many OC's can get a job where you have a potential franchise QB to call the shots for. That makes the job enticing, regardless of the HC situation.

You hit the nail on the head Jason. Coaches are literally beating down the doors to come coach the offense here for 1 season.

This OC job is the equivalent of Sofia Vergara wearing nothing but Heels and Honey.

According to ESPN's John Clayton, the Vikings will "make a play" for Donovan McNabb if Brett Favre retires.

The connection is obvious because Vikings head coach Brad Childress is McNabb's former offensive coordinator in Philadelphia. Clayton suggests that the Vikings could offer up a second-round pick, but the Eagles may hold out a first-rounder. McNabb, 33, is entering the final year of his contract, but his presence would ensure that Minnesota remained Super Bowl contenders.

Wouldn't it be great if Favre plays his retirement game, McNabb gets traded to the Vikings, then Farve decides he wants to play again?? lol.

He can play in the UFL then.

Dude could you imagine the spectacle that would be Thursday Night Football on VersusHD when Favre and his Florida Tuskers teams visits Mike McMahon and the California Redwoods? Were talking 2001 Thanksgiving Day re-match, big time ratings.

You have to figure that John Madden would come out of retirement just to announce that one game.

Thomas Jones...Fred Tarkenton. Mr. Tarkenton, meet Mr. Jones.

"I think the Vikings were clearly the best team," Tarkenton said. "Their offense turned the ball over five times, the Viking offense. But still if (Favre) didn't make that stupid play at the end of the game they would have won the game. I have never seen any quarterback much less, well he is going to be a Hall of Fame quarterback, make plays like that at a critical time."
