Wise Master Buehrle
Disclaimer: I am not giving up on the team, I am just posting what I think. Ok, this team is looking pretty pathetic right about now. We're down 5-1, and everyone is swinging for the fences. What does a solo home run do for us? Just about nothing. Not one single base runner. It's pathetic. Even in the sweep versus the Twins, it was all home runs. A home run to tie it, a home run to win it. Those were more situational home runs though. We do NOT need home runs right now. I love seeing a bunch of base hits, walks, doubles and base stealing rather than 'swinging for the fences'. I am sick of it. I wish Manuel would have a meeting and just yell his ass off saying, "STOP SWINGING FOR THE DAMN FENCES!" Anyways, yes, this team does suck. Is this season over? It's more over than it was 2 weeks ago. Also I noticed we haven't been getting any help from the umpires. Bartolo was getting NONE of hit pitches called. This whole season is the definition of pathetic.
Chisoxfn
Well, I've been preaching for small ball since the start of the season. I always said it was hopeless for JM to be a small ball manager, even though he claims he is one. Through six seasons with the Sox, since 2000 this team has played absolutely no small ball, and every year the fundementals continue to get worse (Especially in regards to small ball). Gimme a break, what has this guy done to keep his job. I'm not saying the players are doing anything to keep their jobs.
aboz56
But we can't fire the players, but we can fire the pulseless wonder JM....

Chisoxfn
But we can't fire the players, but we can fire the pulseless wonder JM.... Oh, they can be ousted to say the lease. All I need is a call from Jerry to tell me I'm the GM and I can promise immediate changes. I'll be going in with a mission to blow this s*** up, and get ready for next year. Heck, I still think after blowing this team up, and getting a new manager, they could still win the central.

Not a bad idea Mario...look what you've got me into. I'm gonna start an official post on Soxtalk that says Fire Jerry Manuel. All I want are names on it. Does anyone know an email addie to send it to and we could send the thread over to them with all the peoples name and reason to fire him. Molto
gotta be more professional than that. I think there are places you can start petitions at. or you can simply get the name and phone numbers of all the fans and send the Sox a letter. I'm gonna call the organization tomorrow. Who exactly would I talk to? And would it actually be worth my time?

What more could getting a new manager hurt anyways? Nothing could be as bad as how they're playing right now.
Molto
I don't hate Manuel, I just feel he's had his chances with this team and for some reason it hasn't worked. they have put out pretty good, quality teams out there each year since 2000 and he hasn't done much with it. it is only for so long that you can blame the players. I have nothing against Manuel other then the way he manages games. I have no doubt that he is a good person and I wish him the best of luck. I've been blaming them for quite some time, and giving them kudos when they do hit. I still blame the players, but now I blame Manuel too. This is what I get for wanting to not be a Cub fan. DonkeyKongerko
I don't hate Manuel, I just feel he's had his chances with this team and for some reason it hasn't worked. It is very rare that a Sox team looks this good on paper. For the team to blow this type of opportunity and not even fire the manager midseason is just pathetic. southsider2k5
Honestly I believe Jerry could be an excellent bench coach, but after watching years of the lack of passion, dispite all of the different players, I honestly don't believe that his style of management works for anything but a team of superstars.
