Mathew
I thought it was a buyers market, what the hell contract did Woody Williams just sign? We're f***ed, chalk one up for the pessimests.
Chisoxfn
He got a big contract, but look at his numbers. If the guy wasn't hurt, he'd be a potential 20 game winner. Era was 2.79 or something. Also go out and look at the deal Mike Remlinger is likely going to sign. 3 yrs 9 mill. Thats really cheap considering the numbers he's put up. Trust me, this is a buyers market. You wanna talk about overpriced...they may as well just cut him because they won't be able to dump that massive salary anywhere at all. Nobody in need of a decent catcher has a crappy catcher and a well overpriced player. The Cubs would have to agree to pay for atleast 75% of it, or so....I don't think they can do it. I think IRod will end up either back in Texas or as a member of the Baltimore Orioles, hopefully with them being without Frank Thomas, of course. I think all they are planning on doing is gaining one big bat this offseason to complement Jay Gibbons, Tony Batista and Marty Cordova...IRod or Thomas would fit that bill, along with Hideki Matsui.
