The Bones
Without reading any of this thread yet and just seeing the title I'm gonna have give this a big no and I'm guessing that I'm not alone. Stone brings so much more to the table than DJ did and I'm so glad that the Sox have him. It's not even that I disliked DJ. I just think Stone is one of the best in the game and I am thankful that the Cubs let him go.
Y2HH
QUOTE (The Bones @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 12:03 AM) Without reading any of this thread yet and just seeing the title I'm gonna have give this a big no and I'm guessing that I'm not alone. Stone brings so much more to the table than DJ did and I'm so glad that the Sox have him. It's not even that I disliked DJ. I just think Stone is one of the best in the game and I am thankful that the Cubs let him go. Actually he left the Cubs, they didn't let him go, they even tried to resign him and he said no. I agree with you, though, Stone brings much more to the table than DJ ever did.
bjm676
I like the combo. Although, I've had enough of Hawk calling Stone "Stone Pony" already. After watching the MLB Package preview on Comcast last week. Some of the other teams announcers are dreadful. It could be worse. Exactly, I use the cubs guys as I watch them the second most. Len Kasper has drowned in the Kool-Aid. Also both the television and radio guys only talk about the cubs and that is it. There is an odd thing that goes on like there is no other team or anything that they talk about needs to be related back to the cubs and how it impacts them. Hawk's stories get old but there are far worse alternatives.
YASNY
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 05:53 PM) Hawk gets to me with his aggrandizing of some of players. It seems every other game we get a statement like this: "Over the last [#] years [so and so] has been one of, if not the best [some intangible quality] hitters/pitchers/fielders in the American League." Like he's at all qualified to make a statement like this. I have to ask, why would you consider Hawk unqualified to make such a statement? Steve9347
The only way you could improve upon it is to hire John Rooney and pair him with Farmer again... for TV. Hawk + Stone is great. Edited April 15, 2009 by Steve9347
