Nice play on Fields.. but he needs to lose 15 pounds. He was chugging on that triple, and should have beat out that long throw.

and losing 15 lbs of muscle will get him there? Thats makes no sense. There is maybe 1 or 2 players on our team that can beat that throw and expecting your 3B to be one of them is pretty unrealistic.

Fields has always been that size. There aren't very many "small" 3B...ever since he was a QB at OSU, he looked pretty much the same. Joe Crede wouldn't have dreamed about a triple there.

We really need Getz back in the line-up. Lillibridge just doesn't make enough contact to be effective. Let him leadoff all season at Charlotte.

He definitely does not look like pure muscle right now.

Personally, I loved the hit and run with a bad contact hitter at the plate. If the hit and run is on and that ball is anywhere near the zone, you absolutely HAVE to make contact, no excuses. You can't whiff.

That is what I was trying to say.

Lillibridge had a 76% contact rate in 85 big league PA last year, that would put him in the bottom 60 players out of the 280 qualified hitters in the majors last year (had he qualified), if he wants to be effective at the next level that rate needs to come up 10 to 12 points.
