SouthsideDon48
QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 08:19 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AsK7...o&type=lgns I wouldn't mind having Byrd on the team. If we got him, I think we ought to move Colon to the bullpen. I remember hearing Contreras can't warm up for a bullpen role.
claydude14
If we could get him cheap, sure why not. But there's a ton of teams that will probably look at him before us. Angels anyone?
Balta1701
Is his HGH supplier still out of jail?
kwolf68
Could it be any worse than the scrubs we have in the 4 and 5 hole? God love Jose for coming back so quickly, but what's the point if you're garbage? And Colon, after being very good in the first game, has been pathetic since. We can't win a weak AL Central with these clods in the rotation.

knightni
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) Is his HGH supplier still out of jail? I don't care about his HGH use. It's not like he broke any major MLB records while using it.

ThunderBolt
I'd rather say, ""f*** it" and call up Poreda then insert a guy like Byrd into the rotation midseason.
ChiSox_Sonix
I'd say yes. Byrd has been living on his mid-80's seemingly awful stuff for years now and keeps demonstrating that he is a pretty reliable 4th/5th starter. If we were to sign him as a 5th starter I'd be for it. He couldnt cost too much.
GreatScott82
Colon will be fine. Send Contreras down for about 2-3 starts to let him get back into form. Bring up Poreda for those 2-3 starts to get his feet wet. Pretty much just repeat the El-Duque/ McCarthy '05 situation.
soxfan3530
While I'm not of the mind set to panic and think colon/contreras need to be replaced immediately, if they continue to struggle want would people think of pedro. again im not supporting the signing persay, just thought i would see what people thought. We'd have to make up an injury for the guy, so he can "rehab" in Charlotte, but i'm all for calling up Poreda to see what he can bring to the table/
GreatScott82
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) We'd have to make up an injury for the guy, so he can "rehab" in Charlotte, but i'm all for calling up Poreda to see what he can bring to the table/ Poreda's last start: 11 K's in 7 scoreless innings I know its only one start but you know it has to be on Ozzie and KW's mind...... knightni
Poreda needs to spend this year in the minors working on his offspeed pitches.
Kalapse
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) We'd have to make up an injury for the guy, so he can "rehab" in Charlotte, but i'm all for calling up Poreda to see what he can bring to the table/ Contreras has an option remaining. He has 5+ years of service so he'd have to agree to it but it is possible that Jose could be sent to the minors sometime this year.
Dick Allen
If someone thinks Byrd can sign on a Tuesday and be ready to pitch at the major league level in a few days, they are crazy.
