BearSox
QUOTE (BobDylan @ Apr 26, 2009 -> 11:02 PM) The fact of the matter is that everyone reacts differently to pain. What is to Lou Gherig is not to Chris Getz. Your logic assumes that the pain will stay in that very small area at the tip of his middle finger. While it might, it probably won't. Even something as small as a jammed finger has radiating pain. It wouldn't be out of this world for that injury, rather, the pain, to extend halfway down that finger, if not all the way. Especially if it is irritated in one way or another during the game, one way which almost definitely includes throwing a baseball, something he'll have to do frequently. If throwing was the only concern, I tend to think they wouldn't mention the DL. To rephrase, it isn't necessarily the injury that counts, it's how he reacts to pain. Well, Getz seems like a hard-nosed guy to me and someone who won't let pain affect them. We'll see though.
Kalapse
http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....til-friday.html Designated hitter Jim Thome might not return to the White Sox's lineup until Friday night at Texas. Manager Ozzie Guillen said he is leaning toward giving Thome extra time to let his sore heel rest with Thursday's day off. Then get Betemit some f***ing ABs. I refuse to believe that Jerry Owens is considered a more valuable player than Wilson Betemit even in Ozzie's wacky world. Meanwhile, second baseman Chris Getz said his middle right finger feels well enough to start, but Guillen is leaning toward holding him out of Tuesday's doubleheader. Good to hear, I'm not sure how much more of Brent Lillibridge I can really take.
