Bring up Allen

They might, but then again if it's only a 15 day thing I am not certain we will see a real prospect called up judging by past statements by Ozzie. They don't want to end up sending a guy back down. My guess is they bring up Nix or Pods.

Joe Cowley is now reporting that Ozzie is concerned about Thome's heel injury and that it might be more serious than first reported. Thome may be on DL if not better for the start of the Texas series on Friday

Cowley extrapolates a lot of crap that isn't there. What exactly did Cowley's twitter say? More importantly, what did Ozzie actually say?

Kroeger would be the most likely player to be recalled.

Betemit, to Fathom's eternal delight, would get most of the at-bats, in all likelihood.

If Josh Kroeger and his current .185 batting average are recalled, KW should be embarrassed.

Andy Phillips would be called up before Kroeger. Kroeger has been god awful in Charlotte so far.

IF Thome is DL'd, I'd bet that Nix gets recalled.

He's already on the 40-man and he's been hitting very well during his rehab.

And as mentioned above, Betemit would get more at-bats.

That's what I'm thinking...

I think this thread would be cooler if the title were "Thome to retire?".

Flame away.

Jim Thome may be the least appreciated White Sox vs. what he has accomplished by Soxtalk of all-time. In fact, I don't think there is a close second.

Ozzie was worried about Thome's heel injury and not sure he would be ready Friday

This. And if he hits the way he can, he may never go back down. I hope they do this instead of someone gay like PODS.

I'd worry about them bringing up Pods to play CF if BA is hurt for any period of time before I'd worry about them bringing Pods up to replace Thome

So Pods got tired of his pornstar wife and decided that he should become a homosexual? Hmm...

Bring up Allen

51% of his hits last season went for an extra base hits which is phenomenal. But there is still a downside to him at this point

Allen had a 6 to 1 k/bb rate in 2006 in his first go around with kannapolis.

126 strikeout to 22 walks.

Allen had a 3 to 1 k/bb rate in 2007 in his second go around with kannapolis.

124 strikeouts to 39 walks.

Allen had a 2 to 1 k/bb rate in 2008 between winston and birmingham last season.

124 strikeouts to 60 walks.

While he is clearly on a upward trend with his walk rate he is yet to improve k'ing. One of three things need to happen in the minors before his is considered big time, he needs to raise his walk rate, lower the k rate, or even a slight combination of both. He needs most of this season if not all of this season in double a before we have an idea of what we have on our hands. It is almost assured he would exposed very bad if he were to come up at any point this season.

A very nice positive for him though, he seems to be a better defender than most anyone realized.

Thome was seen in the dugout today with a helmet on taking swings, which means he was likely available to pinch hit. Also according to Bruce Levine Thome has told Ozzie today that he was ready to play. I guess the drills Thome runs tomorrow will decide his fate. He last played on the 26th so if he hits the DL he'd be available to play again on May 12th if I'm not mistaken

You know, it really does bother me. It's a shame but year's from now the 4 years Thome spent on the South Side won't be nearly as appreciated as they should be, I guess that's the price you pay when you're the type of hitter that Thome is especially when you're 35+ years old.

And it's not just Soxtalk, it's the fandom as a whole.
