Princess Dye
Josh Fields leaves me too nervous over there at 3rd. He's absolutely a candidate for trade if he has another year of good power, mediocre avg, mediocre D. Edited May 5, 2009 by Princess Dye
ThunderBolt
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 5, 2009 -> 06:28 PM) Josh Fields leaves me too nervous over there at 3rd. He's absolutely a candidate for trade if he has another year of good power, mediocre avg, mediocre D. All i see on gameday is that the guy grounded out to third. Sounds like Fields made the play, what happened?

Balta1701
QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) Good to see Josh! When going over any potential 3 year plan for the White Sox, our organization would be in such a better position if Fields can be a suitable starting 3rd baseman. Then, you don't even have to consider moving Beckham to a position where his power is negated. The Cuban tank?
witesoxfan
Normally HBP are basically looked off in regards to OBP. For Quentin, they are probably the most important aspect. Taking out his HBPs last year, his OBP drops 22 points (from .394 to .372). Without them this year, going into the game, his OBP drops over 40 points (.346 down to .304). Assuming Quentin stays healthy, 30 or more isn't out of the realm of possibility.

ThunderBolt
Chris Getz is a smart baseball player. Not a grinder, not run by intangibles, he just has a great mind for the game.
StrangeSox
How does one end up with a lower OBP than AVG? Nix had that going last night. Canucks just scored again.

A sacrifice will count as a plate appearance but not an at bat. If you have few walks but a sacrifice or two it can happen.

witesoxfan
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 5, 2009 -> 05:46 PM) How does one end up with a lower OBP than AVG? Nix had that going last night. Canucks just scored again. AVG = H/AB OBP = (H+BB+HBP)/(AB+BB+HBP+SF) if you have no walks or HBP, but do have a sacrifice fly, your OBP is going to be less than your average. That's a very simple explanation, but that's how it works. 3 hits, 0 BB, 0 HBP, 10 ABs, 1 SF AVG = .300 OBP = .

caulfield12
Would have been nice to get an "easy" win for once, but so much for that. At least the offense finally showed up, although Dye coming back has a lot to do with it. Not having to play Lillibridge really improves the line-up, although Alexei is still really in a funk. Harry Chappas
Well Davies is done and the relievers for the Royals will now take over and shut the Sox down. Especially Tejada whom I assume they have not seen and therefore are unable to touch. Floy'd ERA is about 6 by the way. He has made Contreras looked good. The other 2 hits, off the end of the bat up the middle by Teahen, and a broken bat by Guillen.
