knightni
A reporter was interviewing a former coach. He asked him who's the greatest basketball player he ever saw. The coach said, "That would be Michael Jordan." The reporter asked him, "If Jordan was playing today, how many points do you think he'd score against Lebron James?" The coach thought for a moment, then replied, "About 20, maybe 25." The reporter replies, "Well, 25 points is just okay." The coach sat up in his chair and he said, "Sir, you must remember one thing. Michael Jordan is 46 years old."
shipps
What an epic match up that would be though. f***ing Jordan in his prime vs. Lebron.....wow what a thought.
SoxFan1
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 7, 2009 -> 09:55 AM) Maybe I have the blinders on then... Steve, what the f*** are you smoking? The NBA plays NO defense compared to the days that MJ played. No hand checks...you kidding me? MJ would average 40 a night without many problems. Who the f*** is going to shut down MJ in today's league with todays defense? They couldn't freakin' stop him back then!

They couldn't freakin' stop him back then! This is a terrible argument. If anything, the defense is improved with just the sheer athleticism of the game today. These players are bigger and faster than the players in the league when Jordan was coming up. I think the defense in the NBA today is highly underrated. If you fart in the general vicinity of Lebron or Wade they call a foul.

And outside of a few select players, I don't see many players giving MJ fits when they're on defense.

He was consistently double and triple-teamed, and pretty much manhandled.
SoxFan1
QUOTE (lostfan @ May 7, 2009 -> 01:25 PM) Now, I'm a pretty big Jordan homer and all, but Jordan pretty much invented the superstar call. For every superstar call, he got nailed twice. Players are such pussies now it's not even funny. No one would dare make a hard foul on the stars of the NBA now. You've got Rajon Rondo running around like a f***ing mad-man thinking he can take on the world and get away with it.

Flash Tizzle
Obviously Jordan. I've really forgotten how high he used to jump. Look at the first clip, and later around 1:55, when his head is close to hitting the rim. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKlvfx9ODM8...feature=related I'm sorry for the DMX, though. SleepyWhiteSox
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 7, 2009 -> 06:20 AM) If you were starting a franchise... whom would you select? You get said player as he enters the NBA. I'd be taking LeBron. I love Jordan, but LeBron, in my mind, might already be as good as Jordan ever was... at 24. Stick to hockey... RockRaines
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 7, 2009 -> 10:00 AM) Please. They allow absolutely no contact now, players used to be able to body up to guys as much as they wanted. If you fart in the general vicinity of Lebron or Wade they call a foul. There werent as many "assumptive" fouls back then where they would blow a whistle on a play that looked like a play a foul may have been called on. Team defense is also totally gone in today's game. MJ would have torn up the NBA and its Ole' defense these days.
