Scouting Report

Strengths: Has a very smooth and natural swing. Has good pop (can hit the ball out to all fields) and plate discipline and uses the whole field when at bat. Has above average speed and excellent base running instincts. Very good arm and is a solid defender, profiles to a corner OF spot. Is considered to be a true baseball player, knows how to play the game.

Negatives: Can be too passive at the plate, strikeouts too much.

My Take

I'm a big fan of Miller and think he could be a great pickup with one of our 2nd round picks. He is about a 4-1/2 tool player where the only thing he is lacking is great speed, but even that is above average. His strikeout rate is alarming though, and seems to suffer a bit of Nick Swisher syndrome. However, that could be correctable once he finally focuses on just one aspect of the game.

If he's there at 61, I'd be upset if we didn't take him. I have pictures of him and Quentin roaming the corners of our OF one day.
