southsideirish71
QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ May 11, 2009 -> 07:26 PM) ERA stands at 7.11. Solid effort. Bad pitching + terrible hitting + rotten defense = fail
whitesoxmanager
when are we going to learn to just BET against this team? we could all retire..
southsideirish71
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2009 -> 07:27 PM) What team in baseball would claim Floyd with that three year guaranteed contract, knowing that even Cooper's struggling with him??? Well say someone takes him. Then what. Lance Broadway or Whistler. Come on. As bad as Gavin has been, some options are worse.
santo=dorf
What team in baseball would claim Floyd with that three year guaranteed contract, knowing that even Cooper's struggling with him??? The "legend" of Don Cooper is taking a bit of a hit this year, not unlike Alan Greenspan. Everyone on this board says it's a great deal. Why wouldn't The Nats or Pirates take a chance considering how hard it is to get Free agents to sign with them?
caulfield12
QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ May 11, 2009 -> 07:28 PM) when are we going to learn to just BET against this team? we could all retire.. That would be dangerous with the Indians, because they always kick in into gear when they're pretty much dead and buried. Thome is listening to SoxTalk advice to morph into a Lillibridge/Fields opposite-field singles hitter.

Why wouldn't The Nats or Pirates take a chance considering how hard it is to get Free agents to sign with them? The Nats, maybe. The Pirates, no way, not in this economy... If his ERA climbs to Contreras territory (8+), it would be a REALLY gutsy move for another GM...maybe the Yankees would take a shot, too. Dodgers or Angels other possibilities. caulfield12
Should be 2 runs already if not for Dye's lackadaisical baserunning... Fields=throw him 90% fastballs belt high or above Ramirez=throw him 90% curves, just don't hang one Edited May 12, 2009 by caulfield12
Balta1701
Fields, Ramirez, Getz, Lillibridge. Something tells me this will kill a couple rallies.

santo=dorf
3.10 ERA, 1.12 WHIP. That's what Gavin will have to do over the next 168 innings to match his numbers from his fluke season last year.

Why would it be so gutsy. He won 17 games last year with an ERA under 4 in the AL. Unless you are dying to see Lance Broadway get Felix Diazed every 5th day I would rather see if Floyd is salvageable. 3/5s of our rotation is a mess right now and the team isnt hitting at all. Balta1701
You know the one thing that really does bother me about Walker? He's too damn patient with these young guys. How long did it take to finally get Anderson to overhaul his swing? Ditto Fields. Ditto Lillibridge. These guys need (ed) some serious help and it took forever for it to happen.
