Kyyle23
For a little background on this story, Bayless made an outrageous claim about Philly fans being violent and dangerous and a philly ESPN radiohost(Missanelli) completely blows him up on the air regarding his lack of research http://950espn.com/Audio/tabid/183/article...ip-Bayless.aspx I love how Bayless tries to bigtime him and act like he is better than him, lol
shipps
Greg Anthony ripped him a new one a year or so ago when he was on Cold Pizza on virtually every topic they discussed. He made Skip look like a f***ing idiot. I couldnt believe Anthony was so informed and intelligent. I dont think he got to do the show with Bayless again after that. Kyyle23
QUOTE (shipps @ May 13, 2009 -> 06:39 PM) Greg Anthony ripped him a new one a year or so ago when he was on Cold Pizza on virtually every topic they discussed. He made Skip look like a f***ing idiot. I couldnt believe Anthony was so informed and intelligent. I dont think he got to do the show with Bayless again after that. I remember when Greg Anthony did the same thing to Steven A Smith when they were both on the TNT pregame show for the NBA playoffs during Dwyane Wade's rookie year. Smith spent so much time talking about how the Heat didnt have a chance against the Hornets and really talking down about them, and Anthony was really calm and collected and very informed about the whole situation, and when Miami went and took the series, they cut back to the studio and steven A smith was VISIBLY embarrassed and turning red, and Anthony took it to another level. I like Greg Anthony, the guy is cool under pressure
Steve9347
Bayless's brother is way cooler than he is. And he's not cool at all. (Except when he's on Top Chef)
BobDylan
That was fun. f*** Skip Bayless.

(Except when he's on Top Chef) Oh, I think he is pretty damn cool....he spends half his time in Mexico and the other half in Chicago....he's a smart, smart man... StrangeSox
I love how he resorts to questioning Missanelli's resume and asking him how old he is.
Kyyle23
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 14, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) I love how he resorts to questioning Missanelli's resume and asking him how old he is. Almost immediately he resorts to that tactic. Missanelli hit him pretty hard right off the bat and Bayless kind of stutters and starts with "who am I speaking with? whats your name", and you could tell Missanelli was ready for it Its too bad Missanelli didnt have anythign better than "Google me", but it was still pretty good
whitesoxbrian
Screamin A Smith used to rip him a new one all the time on First Take, or whatever it's called now.
WilliamTell
I'm not a fan of this guy either. Yeah he has a point, but he bothers me too.
bschmaranz
"I don't insult anybody on First Take." Apparently Skip has never watched his own show.
maggsmaggs
I wrote Mike an email and he wrote me back saying thanks. He is now a cult hero in Philly.
SI1020
I don't care for Skip Bayless, and he was weak in his little verbal date with Missanelli. Still I doubt that Philadelphia fans have suddenly become angels. They have a long history dating back to the days that the Phillies and Athletics both played in the city. See, I have a hard time buying that one fanbase is so much better or worse than another. Sox fans got a terrible rap with the father/son duo attacking the field. But the Cubs have their Chad Kreuter incident and others. I think all fan bases are passionate and have bad apples. Maybe some teams have more fans who are passionate, but not more passionate fans and such. Same with idiot fans, maybe some teams have more fans who are idiots (based on sheer population numbers) but not more idiotic fans.

I have been to Safeco, the Giants park, and Baltimore and their fans are pretty tame. Nothing like the s*** I have to deal with at the Cell. Most games I have attended this year I was embarrassed of the f***ing idiots that were there. Two different kinds of people. 1. Fans that are there to watch a baseball game. 2. Dickheads that are only there to drink. Which seems to be the majority at the Cell lately.

Philadelphia fans have a history dating back to before all of us were born. The Santa Claus incident happened in Philadelphia. They had to install a court in the basement at the old Vet during Eagles games because they had so many arrests. Even in individual cities crowds can be different. Boo the Pirates at PNC park and the fan next to you might buy you an Iron City. Try the same at a Steelers game and he might try to tear your head off. Especially if you're from Cleveland or Baltimore. Giants-Dodgers games in recent years have been the scenes of bloody fights in the stands and the parking lots. Even resulting in someone losing their life. No, not all fan bases are the same and not all stadiums will give you the same vanilla experience. Like I said, believe as you like.
