southsider2k5
http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...soxnt17.article SOX IN BRIEF: Walker: Job security is not an issue Comments May 17, 2009 BY JOE COWLEY [email protected] TORONTO -- White Sox hitting coach Greg Walker didn't know how to react to the latest vote of confidence coming from his manager on Friday night. Then again, Walker has been doing his best to block out all of the talk and speculation concerning his job security since last season. RELATED STORIES Denied at the brink Denied at the brink ''It hasn't entered my mind, and it didn't enter my mind,'' Walker said Saturday. ''Unless it becomes an issue in the press and you guys come over and ask me something, force me to think about it, it's just something ... there's too much stuff going on with this team. There is too much work to be done to sit around and worry about that.'' It was after the 8-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays when Ozzie Guillen went out of his way to say, ''Whoever wants to blame Walk out there, they better not waste their energy because it's not Greg Walker's fault.'' So who's is it? Don't ask Walker, who said he's in the ''picking up the pieces'' business these days, not the finger-pointing business. ''The thing that gets lost about last year ... the same situation has risen again, where we had to make a nice comeback [offensively] last year and ended up winning, as well as finishing in the top five in runs scored.'' Notes Despite long relievers Lance Broadway (0-1, 2.84 ERA) and D.J. Carrasco (1-0, 3.00) throwing well of late, the Sox do not view them as safety nets in case Clayton Richard struggles in the starting rotation. ''Clayton deserves the opportunity, and my feeling is he's going to keep the opportunity,'' pitching coach Don Cooper said. • • Bench coach/acting manager Joey Cora said outfielder Brian Anderson (strained right oblique) will continue his rehab assignment with Class AAA Charlotte until Tuesday, when the Sox return home to face the Minnesota Twins. BearSox
Why even have a hitting coach then, if when the team isn't hitting for long periods of times, he gets no blame?
Palehosefan
Gary Ward and Von Joshua must be loving this.
SI1020
I've long thought that the so called "vote of confidence" is often a polite way of saying your job is on the line.
chisox2334
sorry to say walker isnt one who puts the team together. Walker can only do so much to try and help the players out. The hype over Fields is come and gone. Yes, He had great year when crede was down. But, ever since all he's done but learned to strike out two to three times a game. Also, I will not stand for this bs about waiting to weather warms up crap. You either playing good or your not. It's an excuse. to hmm wait till june. Then when june comes and were still doing the same stuff then what?

southsider2k5
QUOTE (SI1020 @ May 18, 2009 -> 11:43 AM) I've long thought that the so called "vote of confidence" is often a polite way of saying your job is on the line. Not in Chicago.
