The Ginger Kid
QUOTE (knightni @ May 19, 2009 -> 11:05 AM) A good chance for you younger guys to see Old Comiskey Park. Tito f***ing Landrum. To this day that remains one of the most depressing moments for me as a Sox fan. That team would have won the world series. I have no doubts. knightni
I was 10 years old. It was the first time that I ever shut off the TV in disgust while watching the Sox. The tradition continues...

Hoyt going in game 5, and they were a better team than the Phillies.

Maybe. They couldn't hit for crap in the postseason and Kittle would've been out for the remainder with back problems. It's still sad that Brit Burns pitched the game of his life and the vaunted Sox offense responded with a goose egg. Reminds me of some of the recent Sox teams. elrockinMT
Britt Burns pitched a heck of a game. He went into the 10th before losing it. I have the game set to record on DVR so I'll watch it this weekend. I remember the announcer saying-when they took out Britt in the 10th- "hold your head up son you did a terrific job." The Ginger Kid
i'd like to watch it again, because if memory serves me right there were a couple of times the Sox had runners on and no outs and got squat. I know there was a runner thrown out at the plate (Law?). The Sox definitely had their chances in that game.

Wanne
Is this the game with the incredible Jerry Dybzinski baserunning brain fart?
knightni
QUOTE (Wanne @ May 19, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) Is this the game with the incredible Jerry Dybzinski baserunning brain fart? Yep. In the 1983 American League Championship Series against the Baltimore Orioles, Dybzinski committed a baserunning error in game four (overrunning second base while third base was already occupied by Vance Law) that ultimately cost the White Sox the game and series. WSoxMatt
Comiskey Park had a ton of space behind the plate and the backstop
WCSox
QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ May 20, 2009 -> 06:12 AM) Comiskey Park had a ton of space behind the plate and the backstop IMO, Old Comiskey had the best upper deck seats of any ballpark I've been to. You were literally right on top of the action.
