maggsmaggs
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 21, 2009 -> 04:57 PM) I understand the Sox not picking it up, but I'm a little annoyed they got into the dance not willing to do it, they should have known that was going to be a major issue. I think this is the big issue and I know Jimbo said something similar. You had to know what you were getting into with Peavy, the $$ and his NTC. Also Ken Rosenthal is pretty retarded for saying the White Sox deal was worse than the Cubs.
TheBlackSox8
funny not to see any major sports networks or sites reporting it. i say give it another 2 - 3 weeks, while we play interleague and central division teams...then make a decision from there on the fire-sale Edited May 21, 2009 by onedude

Also Ken Rosenthal is pretty retarded for saying the White Sox deal was worse than the Cubs. Peavy is going to stay in SD and financially cripple his club because A. He's too much of a p**** to pitch in the AL B. He's holding out for these teams he wants to play for that dont have the players or money to take him on. Someone needs to sit him down and tell him like it is.
Kalapse
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 21, 2009 -> 05:00 PM) It's a shame it got leaked, but I'm certainly not holding this one against the Sox. I know its incredibly easy for some to call the Sox cheap for not investing 22 million into a pitcher four years from now, but it's an incredibly risky venture that obviously was the deal breaker. If another team wants to do it, good for them, but there is a reason he hasn't left San Diego yet.... They had absolutely no chance of getting a deal done without picking up that option. If they went into this thinking Peavy would make any concessions then they were fooling themselves. It really is a shame this got leaked because it was never going to get done in the first place. bighurt574
If KW spent 11 months on this deal, I wouldn't expect him to go away quietly. I would expect we might remain a player for Peavy if his other suitors never materialize. The price we'd be willing to give the Padres would almost certainly drop during that time though. Kenny Hates Prospects
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ May 21, 2009 -> 05:01 PM) This team is just cheap, cheap, cheap. It really a shame, this would have done wonders to rejuvinate the entire fan base. Now, we get to deal with has beens, never beens and Brent f***in lillibridge. Option or not, there's no way that was a cheap contract. The Sox are not cheap. JR authorized to take his stank ass on. If the Sox guaranteed his option then he'd have wanted the full NTC through the deal. If the Sox did that then he'd want the fences moved back. If the Sox did that he'd want an analysis of the wind patterns of the Cell along with any necessary adjustments to the roof structure that would make it more of a pitchers park. If the Sox did that then he'd want them to change their uniform colors to red, white, and blue with a stupid animal on it inside of a C. And so on. He's a p**** and he's scared to pitch in the AL. That's why he declined this trade. f*** him.
