Cali
# #white sox talking to #mets about catching, most likely ramon castro. that sound you hear is jerry manuel cheering 20 minutes ago from web nothing to get excited about really. Could the Cork-a-roo and his stirrups be heading out of town soon?
Balta1701
I haven't gotten the impression we're losing a lot of games because of Corky Miller.
scenario
The Mets are talking to anyone who will listen to move Castro. It's not a Sox specific thing.
santo=dorf
Whatever happened to Castro's rape case?

fathom
QUOTE (santo=dorf @ May 30, 2009 -> 02:23 AM) Whatever happened to Castro's rape case? Isn't it amazing how many of these incidents involving athletes seem to go away, yet UUrbina is rotting away in prison in Venezuela?
scenario
QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2009 -> 08:23 PM) Why do the Mets want to get rid of Castro? Schneider coming off the DL. And they like Omar Santos. So Castro is expendable.
JDsDirtySox
they basically want to see if they can get anything for him before just DFAing him. They have been trying to trade Castro since February. Is Corky really that bad? Edited May 30, 2009 by JDsDirtySox
fathom
Yes, Corky is awful. He gives us nothing offensively in the games he plays in. Considering we seem to be trying to rest AJP against any LHP we face, it's important we boost our LHP offense.
BearSox
I'd love to get Castro. He'd be an ideal backup catcher. He has always mashed left handed pitching, and he's pretty solid behind the plate with, IIRC, a cannon or close to it for an arm.
fathom
Give them someone like McCullough for him.
BearSox
QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) Give them someone like McCullough for him. I'm not sure if we could get a bag of balls for him. But I'd love to get rid of him.
Kenny Hates Prospects
How about instead of assuming that salary we put that money into the draft coming up... Corky is fine. As long as the pitchers like throwing to him then that's all that matters. Now if we're talking about swapping Castro for Betemit plus a halfway decent prospect then I'd do that. Actually, Betemit playing 1B today, maybe someone else is watching? With Delgado out it's not all that bad of an idea.
