Sports Betting

Where can I go to legally make bets on baseball games? I checked with the Hollywood casino in Aurora and they don't do sports betting. Are there places that have legal sports gambling in IL? If so where? Or is it online, and is that legal?

If anyone has advice for Mark on this subject, please PM the info to him.

Please do not post it here.

Soxtalk does not condone or wish to promote betting on sports illegally.

There are no legal ways to bet on team sports in Illinois.

Nevada is the only place you can do it legally. Unless you find a casino cruise or Indian casino that offers it.

Online is pretty easy to do if you decide to go the Western Union route. Most credit card companies have blocked online sportsbooks so the cards wont work unless the sportsbook funnels the money thru a third party.

New Jersey or Delaware I thought now allow you to do it. Alot of the sportsbooks online do indeed funnel the money through a third party financial institution.

I know Delaware is in the process of legalizing it but I dont know if its a done deal.

I'm sure in the next few years more states will start to legalize it in attempts to bring in more money for the state. I'm sure most gamblers would rather deal with paying a tax on winnings in states where its legal than having to go to offshore sportsbooks and deal with the sometimes shady characters that runs those sites.

The third party thing is funny when looking at a credit card statement and you see a charge to a "shoe" company based in the United Kingdom. Or a "bridal shop" in south Florida.

I believe it's a done deal, will be allowed starting in August, and I'm pretty sure it allows full sports betting except for sports in that state.
