Dick Allen
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:55 PM) Reds passed him up for Yonder. Many will always remember that unless Yonder becomes a stud. The Phillies past up Frank Thomas for Jeff Jackson a kid out of Simeon who Larry Himes and Al Goldis really wanted.

Dick Allen
I'm pretty convinced every major offensive player on Birmingham except for Danks could match or beat his current product if they played for Charlotte. SoxAce
Play this kid, and play him often Sox. I would rather see Gordo at 2B and just learn and man that, but I can't complain.
SoxAce
I doubt Jordan Danks is a better CF than BA. They are both very good defensively. I'll give BA the edge just because of how scouts raved about him more, but Danks is definitely not too far off, and more athletic.

I would love the Sox to sign Holliday. If Olney is correct and he's "only" going to get 3 years at $10-12 million, the Sox money is just as good as anyone else's. Its just with Boras there would be so many other things like out-clauses that could make it a moot point.

I'm sick and tired of seeing players and thinking "Hey, they might be a good fit" only to see that they are Boras clients. I can understand not drafting Boras guys in the 1st or signing the big time Boras FA's that want to make a new record for a contract, but the other guys, there's no reason why we shouldn't just send Hahn out to do the negotiating. BearSox
There's no way KW and Ozzie go into next year with no lefty bat for the middle of the lineup. Also, if we do sign Holliday, we'd probably prefer to save the 6 million or so and go with Thome instead. But it's such a tough decision, because Dye has been so good for us.
