MurcieOne
Because our other options stats areso much better Koch has blown the same amount of saves that Gordon has, in 6 less tries, without his out pitch. When Gordon starts to struggle, and he will, is everyone on here gonna be pissing and moaning about KW signing him as a FA? The scouting shoulda been dome on Kochs arm, it obviously wasnt, and yet its all Kochs fault that he has pitched a TON in the past. I doubt that you'll never see Billy hit 100MPH again. He has that hillbilly determination to just work on that arm until he can throw the ball through a f***ing wall to just prove everyone wrong. The Marte that is 5/12 in save opportunities? Face it, fact is that Koch can't throw 100 mph right now, no one knows why. We can speculate as to why, I personally think its the constant overuse in the past

Capn12
Yes, advanced scouting and analysis shouldve been done on Koch's arm, based JUST on his usage in the past.

YASNY
Not only has Koch historically pitched a lot of innings, but he has had high pitch counts during those innings. So, on the surface, we really took a bath on this trade. However, by this point next year things may look completely different. If we use Koch sparingly the rest of the year, his arm may bounce back. Who knows if Cotts will ever amount to anything, but that is always a possibility. Foulke probably end up walking away from the A's after this year. LDF
Neal Cotts could prove that statement wrong. that is the long term hopes, why was this trade made? again what did kw say he made this trade. answer to help us this yr, to solidify the bullpen this yr, to give us a closer that can come in and close the game. Yeah, those were the intentions...but seemingly someone would have made sure Koch was healthy enough to actually do it.

The trade was made for this yr... and on those terms kenny lost this trade. Long term...That f***ing geek foulke is leaving the A's after this year, and William Koch is here for two more years with a chance to regain his 2002 form. In addition to that we could have just added a front of the rotation starter who is a lefty. Unless Joe Valentine pans out to be pretty good... I think Kenny still come out the victor of the koch deal.
