Jim Fainter
I noticed in today's sports section that Mr. All World, Alex Rodriguez, has a batting average down to .279. He is too good of a hitter for that. I have to think that he is going for the long ball too much, although it is tough to say for sure, because I don't get to watch him very often. But the fact is that in his first full season, 1996, he hit .358. I thought he was a future .400 hitter back then.
Loaiza21
I sure hope he isn't swinging for the fences. That only spells trouble.

witesoxfan
He's hitting 55 homers a year. I'd have to imagine he is swinging for the fences. You don't just happen to hit 55 homers because you are trying to hit the ball hard. I can only think of one guy that tried to hit the ball hard a lot of the time, and that's Thomas. And even now a days, it appears he's trying to hit more homers too. There are way too many home run hitters in today's game. I kind of applaud the Red Sox, because they really only have one real big-time power hitter on that team, Manny Ramirez. You look at that team, and most of them are .300 type hitters....I think their team average was like .290 something.
