fathom
Alexei destroying the ball in this game. It seems that with Pods not on base, he's swinging a little bit harder. Alexei needs to know it's not a crime to hit a ball hard to left field with Pods on base.
chw42
Jose's just a headcase. He had all the stuff he's showing tonight from day one. It's just been the control and pitch selection that's screwed him over in his previous 5 starts.
TylerAtIU
QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 08:55 PM) Doesn't it seem like temperature has to be above 80 for Alexei to perform? We really can't look past before he came here last year he spent his ENTIRE life in Cuba... don't think it ever drops below 80 there
winninguglyin83
keep jose over bartolo. 1. He has enough pride that he got himself in shape at a later stage in his career. 2. he can throw more than a fastball. 3. He was here during the good times and didn't take the cash and run like Bartolo.
fathom
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 01:57 AM) Jose's just a headcase. He had all the stuff he's showing tonight from day one. It's just been the control and pitch selection that's screwed him over in his previous 5 starts. Jose had no forkball before he got demoted. Thus, he was basically a one pitch pitcher to lefties and they were destroying him. It also looks like he's gained a mph on his fastball, which can't hurt. Thus, he was basically a one pitch pitcher to lefties and they were destroying him. It also looks like he's gained a mph on his fastball, which can't hurt. He had zero of his feel pitches, his timing was terrible and he had no control. Symptoms of a player who came back too soon from an injury. Luckily, Jose was classy enough to accept the demotion and able to get even more starts in the minors.

Cali
Alright Gordo pressures off. You lead off the inning, the Sox are up by 6, time for a base knock.... Unless Ozzie PH's for him for some f***ing reason...

fathom
Ozzie should let Jose go out to the mound for the 9th, and then pull him.

southsider2k5
Nice of the fans to recognize the pitch count and give Jose one hell of a standing ovation as he exited after last inning. Way to man up Bronze Titan

Not having a forkball is somewhat part of not having any control... He still had the same velocity and everything.

chw42
Strong performance by Jose. The Tigers looked like us when we face a pitcher we've never seen before. Edited June 9, 2009 by chw42
SoxFan562004
everytime I think I'm out, they pull me back in! Shocked how they came out today and I appreciate it! Great to see Count only give up one walk
G&T
Poor Gordo. Better AB though.
maggsmaggs
I know it's early, but Gordo doesn't have the bat speed I thought he would. Just saying, I am not doubt his ability or anything, but I thought it would be better than what we have seen.
