Capn12
Did you watch his last start. He was going after the corner against lefties everytime one came up. His only problem was that the umpire wasn't calling the strikes that he threw. For instance on the Dimitri Young atbat where he hit the homer in the 2nd inning the pitch before the homer he threw a great pitch that was a strike but the ump called it a ball. This happened 3 or 4 more times in the game also where he threw a great pitch for a strike 3 but the ump called a ball, and on the very next pitch the Tigers score runs. Which backs up my point. I can't argue on the subject of umpires, but Bartolo Colon has good enough stuff to where he doesnt have to try and eat away at the corners, most of the guys in that Detroit lineup couldnt touch his high heat, so why not use it. DiamondAngel
It just doesnt appear that he is pitching like he wants to be here anyways. Is another year gonna change that? The guy just appears not to try. I am glad that I am not the only one who sees this.....he has no heart and no guts on the mound at all. He does not want to be a White Sox. toasty
that ump that was callin the balls and strikes in colon's last game has had a crappy zone this year, he cant see
mike12345
just because colon isnt performing well doesnt mean that he has no heart out there...he is a professional and i dont think he is intentionally playing bad because he doesnt wanna be here...he has to be happy not to be on the expos or indians and on a team that has a good chance of winning their divison

But he wasn't eatting away at the corners. He had such good movement that the ball would start inside off the plate and end up right down the middle freezing the Left handed hitters but also the umpires. I think Colon's main problem right now is that the umps aren't sticking with his pitches long enough and there for calling balls that are strikes. LDF
so what was the real reason pk had a horrible first half, was it really bad technique or was he injured?
mike12345
maybe a little of both but sometimes you just slump for no reason
greg775
Carlos Lee probably is the least respected player for the amount of RBIs he gets every year. I realize he has major faults but his numbers are the same as Everetts. Why do Lee haters despise him? I thought it was neat today after his line drive homer. He got a helluva hand from the crowd. He had that big smile on his face. I realize he can suck, but the guy isn't a stiff either. He's been with the sox a while and has had some decent moments. He's no worse than a B–minus I'd say and sometimes is a solid B.
Jim Fainter
Here's my b**** with Lee. He came up, what, 4.5 years ago, and he immediately hit .290 or so. Then the next year he was over .300. Plus he had power. Everyone, including me, thought he would develop into a great hitter. Instead he regressed. Sox treated him great, gave him a nice contract when they didn't have to. Plus his defensive problems. He's a .260 hitter, 25 HR, 80 RBI. That's it. He hit a plateau, and he's going to stay there until something disturbs him. I just feel it shows in his performance that he doesn't want to be a White Sox. Yes, he had a nice outing today and some offense to back him up. However, I just don't see the spirit there when he is on the mound.
