White Sox select another one of Kenny Williams' kids. What was the holdup? This one was Tyler a 3rd basemen.

I guess he'll spend most of his professional career on the DL like Kenny Jr.

Don't know if this was posted or not, it is about our 31st round selection, Jacob Wilson:

Senior righthander Jacob Wilson isn't physically imposing at 6 feet and 170 pounds and he didn't have much success as a traditional pitcher at Laredo (Texas) CC, so when he followed coach Chase Tidwell to New Mexico State he knew he had to try something different. Tidwell dropped him down to a true sidearm delivery and Wilson ran with it, touching 93 from that slot with major tilt. His breaking ball is just good enough at this point, but the fastball has a lot of movement and Tidwell believes it will destroy wood bats.

After selecting a catcher and two outfielders over their first three picks, the White Sox went pitcher-heavy, taking eight consecutive pitchers from the end of Day 1 into the beginning of Day 2.

"We thought it was a pitching-strong draft," Laumann said. "We felt like we needed to infuse some position players, and with the first three picks yesterday, we did that. Once we got beyond that, it seems kind of foolish not to go ahead and try to stay with what the strength of the Draft is."

Laumann raved about the team's fourth-round pick, right-handed pitcher Matthew Heidenreich out of Temescal Canyon High School in Southern California, who went from throwing in the mid-80s earlier this season to the low-90s.

"Sometimes you project these guys and you have to wait a long time," Laumann said. "Other times, you get lucky. His velocity actually increased about 5-6 mph from February to right before the Draft. So, it's coming with him."

Hopefully he continues to take the Shirek route or definitely, the Zumaya route in terms of that.

Shirek didn't suddenly put on velocity - he was probably a high round talent who got himself into trouble on and off the field his last season before being drafted, dropping him to Round 13.

He was a 23rd rounder, and had his off the field issues but you are right. I was thinking of Charlee Leesman. My bad.
