Heads22
I was impressed with his last start... I think we could get another strong start out of him...because I do not wasnt to see Wright starting again for a long while.... I'd like to see, if we fall out of contention, the Sox trying Rauch out again, too.
aboz56
I'm hoping Porzio isn't starting at the game I go to next weekend, but he is scheduled to unfornately.
KipWellsFan
I think Porzio shouldn't go much more than 5 innings. It seems like, maybe after the hitters have seen him a couple times they dial him up. Then again I'm not really an expert on Mike Porzio.

Molto
Porzio is a guy who NEEDS to locate and bust guys inside. he has added a changeup and if he adds more bit to his curve, he could be pretty good. the key is for him to go 5 IP every start. I think the Sox are just hoping he holds up until someone from the minors is ready to take over. most likely, if the Sox are still in contention down the stretch, they will do everything they can to pitch one of their man four. bullpen is fresh for tomorrow though. my thinking is Porzio will go 4-5, followed by White for a couple. Jim Fainter
Porzio is kind of a homely Jamie Moyer. He should do well.

Rex Hudler
Jamie Moyer is an all-star, don't do him the injustice of being compared to Cy Porzio. I was thinking a poor man's Jamie Moyer. LOL Jamie Moyer wasn't always an all-star and was not very highly regarded until he found himself around the age of 33. He is a lefty with average stuff that knows how to pitch. I think it is a very fair comparison.

That's not the point and was never the point. The comparison is that he is a similar type pitcher. Is anyone saying that Porzio is a future all-star? No But then again, neither was anyone saying that about Moyer 10 years ago.

whitesox247
I agree that Porzio should only got 5 innings max. JM should just plant that into his head. Look at Sele from the Angels, he was pitching horribly. Then Scioscia pitched him 5 innings per game and he has been great. I think Porzio could do well if he just pitches like its a 5-inning game. That's good in theory, but if the guy is pitching well, you leave him in. No ifs ands or buts about it.
Jim Fainter
Whoever occupies our number 5 pitching slot will get about 8 more starts this year. If we are going to contend, we need some victories there.

Porzio showed in Charlotte that he can be effective for 5-6 innings. He didn't do poorly at all in his last start. I don't see him as the answer to our 5th starter question though. I think he can be a good lefty out of the pen and a relief starter. Hopefully Wright, Rausch or Cotts step up soon. I would think it most likely wil be Wright back up, Sanders down and Porzio in Sanders spot in the pen. If out hitters keep performing I think Porzio will get a W
