BPSOX12
Another pitcher from the cleveland farm system?? Have the sox seen this guy? Well if this game goes like all the others where the sox havent seen the starting pitcher i guess you can say we lose. The White Sox are the only team in baseball that suck when facing pitchers they have never seen before.

Jordan4life_2003
Brian Tallet? Oh s***...Sounds like a newbie...We're in deep s***...Nobody is worse at goin up against pitchers they've never seen before than us...
Joel
Guess what guys last Sunday I think we faced 6 rookies of the indians and we scored 7 runs. I don't know how many of those guys we had seen before but givce the guys a chance before you say we have lost.
Jim Fainter
The Yanks just slapped the s*** out of the Tribe. I don't know if that's good or bad for us.
clujer420
I thought I read somewhere that the Indians' start was going to be Billy Traber, the guy who 1-hit the Yankees? Maybe I was wrong.

However, today I see the Sox players talking about how we faced him in the Tigers sweep. It is a hard one to call, but I think what we have in our favor is hot hitting in the last 5 games and hopefully a new approach to hitting pitchers we haven't seen before. I think we will do well tonight.

Bighurt52235
The Indians have scored excactly 4 runs their last seven games! That's a major league record for consecutive games with the same score. So, I will say we need to score 5 to win.

I know we atleast beat him. 7/13 vs. CWS, Traber did the following... 6 IP, 4 ER, 8 hits, 3 walks, 6 strikeouts. He got a no decision in a game that the Sox eventually won 7-4. elrockinMT
Ledezma in his first outing against us, blanked us over 5 innings before hitting his pitch count, while up in Detroit. That's what I meant in my POST. I agree we have limited success against pitchers we haven't seen before, but we had seen Ledezma for 5 innings. It is a wonder teams just don't bring up their AAA staffs to face us. However, I think it is the approach to hitting against a newbie that is the problem. Our people all tend to swing for te fences and look bad on some bad pitches.
clujer420
Hitting against young pitchers has everything to do with patience. A great majority of pitchers coming up from the minors today do not have very good control, so what the hitters need to do is be very selective at the plate. Remember when Miguel Ascencio made his debut for the Royals and threw 16 (yes, 1-6) consecutive balls before being removed? That's what you need to do. Now, 4 straight 4-pitch walks is something you don't see very often, but what will usually happen after 1 or 2 walks is they'll throw a meat ball right down the pipe, and you can tee off on it. Then he'll be careful with the next guy, and the hitter's got to be patient. It's a whole cycle that, if done properly by the offense, can be brutal for the pitcher. Molto
there a few things you have to do against young pitchers. first, be patient. like you said CLU, control is a big thing with young pitchers. second, test their defense, meaning bunt, forcing him to make a play. a bad throw on a bunt can screw around with a young guys mind. third, when on base, you have to be aggressive and test his concentration. fourth, you gotta score on them early. last thing a young guy needs is confidence. IlliniKrush
That's not true, I've heard many fans from different teams say the same things about pitchers they've never seen. New York Yankees fans especially. Not when his stuff is garbage You hear that a lot about hot rookies, not guys with 5+ ERA's. Hell, it's been everyone's first time seeing these Tigers pitchers this year
