Wow, didn't see that one coming.

WojYahooNBA:

Kevin Martin just spoke to Y! Sports' Marc Spears: "I appreciate them letting me go to a playoff caliber team at this time of my career."

If T-Mac gets buy out with Kings, he privately hopes to sign with Lakers or Cavaliers for the playoffs, source close to him tells Y!

Bucher says: If Sac and Hou can pull Knicks into 3-team deal, Sergio Rodriguez + TMac would go to NY, a source says. Told Sac-Hou two-way deal not done.

I still am not sure how good Landry is, but he helps them at the 4 (I didn't notice he was in the trade as well before I made my last post). I would tend to agree with the Kings view of Evans as a 2 guard, but now they need to go out and find a point.

I still don't get that trade for the Rockets though. I'm not a big Martin fan: he's not a real good shooter from the field, he's overpaid, and I feel he puts up empty numbers, kind of like a shooting guard version of an Elton Brand.

Not a big fan of Martin either, but he is a solid player when healthy, and the Rockets obviously like him. Everyone says this is a good trade for the Rockets, I think its better for the Kings. They will still suck, but who knows.. they can get lucky with the ping-pong balls and net the #1 pick and John Wall (they have the 5th worst record right now) which would really make them damn good and fun to watch. (or perhaps Ricky Rubio if he comes back to the states) You can't even rule out a trade for Devin Harris if the Nets net the pick. If things go right with the drafting (moreso them or the Nets winning it or Kings in top 3 if Rubio is eligible again), the Kings could be sitting pretty.

None of those scenarios make the Kings good really. Sure, they'd be fun-ish to watch, but they'd still have 2 point guards and ok big men.

Well if the Kings view Evans as a PG (which I don't think they do) that doesn't rule them out drafting Evan Turner at SG as well.

Evans/Udrih

Turner/Garcia

Casspi/Greene

Landry/Thompson

Hawes/Brockman

I still think a Wall-Evans-Casspi-Landry/Thompson-Hawes/Brockman/FA signing big man lineup is much better though. Wall (or even Rubio or Harris) and Evans.. damn.

Ya, they'll be better, but they won't be good. It wouldn't take a genius to improve that team.

Hard to be good when you play in the West of course.. They are hoping they get the OKC way of improvement with youth though. I don't think they will be as bad as you think though (though they won't be good either in the tough West), but that of course depends if they land a potential stud like Wall (especially) or Turner.

I'm not a big Tyreke Evans fan.

Interesting couple of hours here I see.

Martin's been nothing but a good citizen in Sacramento, but the simple fact is, Martin and Evans could simply just not play together.

Sacramento need a distributing type of PG alongside Evans, and with the cap room they've created, they can now go after one.

Martin's a pretty decent pickup for Houston though. Will fit their culture well, and they can move Battier back to the bench where he belongs.

I'm surprised they gave up Landry though, he could be the 6th man of the year.

All in all, depending on what they do with the capspace, I like the deal better for Sacramento. Geoff Petrie is building something there. If they ended up with Wall somehow, that team would make an OKC like jump next season for sure.

found this on the bottom of the Kevin Martin trade link

The Bulls pulled Salmons out of Wednesday's game in New York because of the pending trade. Initial reports had the Bulls getting the expiring contracts of Kurt Thomas and Francisco Elson from Milwaukee, but the Chicago Tribune reported late Wednesday that Chicago could receive Thomas and Elson or a package of the expiring deals of Hakim Warrick and Joe Alexander.

Now that the Bulls have shipped John Salmons to Milwaukee they are way under the salary cap for next season. Mike McGraw of the Daily Herald has an idea how they could get even more room for this summer by making a trade with Sacramento. The Kings are set to acquire Tracy McGrady from the Rockets.

McGraw writes: "The question now is whether Sacramento will hang on to McGrady or trade him again before the deadline hits. The Bulls are still intent on trading Kirk Hinrich and opening even more cap room for the summer. That's their top priority in the final hours before the deadline. Since the Kings saved money by trading Martin, maybe they'd be interested in Hinrich, who could be a nice veteran mentor to rookie guard Tyreke Evans. A couple of combinations would work -- Hinrich, Brad Miller and Jannero Pargo, or Hinrich, Tyrus Thomas, Jerome James and Pargo."

If Hinrich and Thomas are off this roster by 2pm today I will cry tears of happy. At least Tyrus is gone regardless, so Hinrich at least.

I won't believe the Bulls are actually going to trade Hinrich until I actually see him in another team's uniform.

Hypothetically, if Hinrich were moved and the Bulls did not take back any contracts that extend into next season, that would leave the Bulls with 5 players under contract for next year and a Q.O. on Thomas unless he's also dealt. The total salary commit for the Bulls next year would be 22.86 million. If the Cap winds up at $56 million and the Bulls have no draft holds, they could afford to offer 2 max deals to FA's. If the cap is lower, the Bulls could offer 1 Max deal and then one deal somewhere above the MLE up to about $10 million depending on the number of draft holds, or they could use that extra space in a large sign and trade deal.

They could also do a sign and trade with any of the players(hinrich, deng, etc) to clear up room in the offseason

ESPN 1000 right now...

KC Johnson says it'll be Warrick/Alexander... Bulls tried to get in on 3-way Houston/Sacramento deals... Bulls want to clear more salary to get two max FAs this offseason, KC doesn't think it'll happen... Bulls have told everyone in the league they aren't taking ANY contracts back... Bulls nowhere near Amare talks... Bosh won't move today... Knicks have offered Harrington for Tyrus and expiring, it's been on the table for awhile, but the Bulls want to actually get something for him other than expirings, if they want to make that deal, it's there...

Kings have a really nice core of young players.

Tyreke Evans

Omar Cassipi

Jason Thompson

Carl Landry

Spencer Hawes

Even Garcia is a nice player on their team.

If they get Wall or Turner that will be one exciting team to watch.

I'd like to see them sign a guy like Mehmet Okur this offseason, he would fit in well and offer a needed perimeter and post player. Would be a nice add for the Bulls too potentially.

Glad to hear we got Joe Alexander and Hakim Warrick. Warrick is at least a player we can use and I'd like to see Alexander get some PT. I don't expect either to come back at the end of the season but would be open to it at minimal contracts.

I always loved Warrick when he was on Syracuse.

That is a nice package, and we are out of the Salmons option. Excellent. Don't 2000 this up guys.

Very solid, it's pretty clear that Tyrus just has to go and that's really not bad value. Can never have too many 1st rounders regardless of what year it is (and it definitely won't be this year).

I'd be kinda surprised if Charlotte was willing to give up a pick that wasn't this year's. They're in position for a playoff spot this year, 2 games ahead of Milwaukee for the 8th spot, probably in no small part because of the coaching job done by Larry Brown. The odds of them being in the lottery next year, IMO, are probably higher than this year.

They have already moved this years first round pick
