wow didnt know that he passed. Saw him on TV about a year ago and still played well. Very unique sound out of his guitar. When you heard it you knew it was him.

My second all time favorite guitarist. Nobody could play like Alvin and I mean nobody. Listen to the album "Ssssh" and you'll know what I mean. One of my main inspirations to start playing guitar.

He really was a great player. No crazy scales, just crazy badass pentatonic and you did immediately know it was Alvin when you heard it.

I loved the Ssssh album but I think my favorite was Stonedhenge which preceded it. Rock on, Alvin!

Yeah, Stonedhenge was a great album also. I've never been able to pick out a favorite TYA album. I just love Cricklewood Green, Ssssh, Stonedhenge and A Space in Time (even though it was a little more commercial). The only album of their's I never really got into too much was Watt.

Peter Banks, original guitarist for Yes. He played briefly with Blodwyn Pig then formed the band Flash. He died of heart failure, at age 65.

Clive Burr, drummer for Iron Maiden. He was 56.

Make that celebs number 895 and 896 I've never heard of in this thread.

'70s porn star Harry Reems, 65.

Starred with Linda Lovelace in Deep Throat.

I've never seen him but he lived not all that far away. He's been living in Utah for some time (of all places) and selling real estate.

I'm actually really bummed about Ebert, I loved the guy. He was a Chicago icon. RIP

Me too. Few celebrity deaths really hit me, but when I was abroad, his blog entries on London really meant a lot to me. Those blog entries were so intimate, I felt like I knew him. Gonna be missed.

He was a true icon and there aren't too many people like him. Supporter of the arts (much more than that later of course) and one of the people you can say legitimately improved society and culture with his existence. We lost a great one.

Too bad about Ebert. He was obviously in much worse shape than he led on when he reported the cancer's return the other day.RIP

That was just yesterday. Crazy

He seemed like a guy that was opinionated and would stick to his guns, but his heart was in the right place. Can't ask for much more than that. He'll be missed.

I agree with you. I'm also affected by his death. I consider him a real Chicago icon. I'd get a sense of pride as dumb as that may sound, watching he and Siskel on Letterman or Ebert alone on shows since Siskel's death.

I found Roger's article on death quite interesting.

I do believe there is a heaven but I have zero proof and I can certainly see Roger's logic in the fact when we die we're in the same state of nothingness as before we were born. I'm glad his death is getting a lot of attention. I agree with you that even though I never knew the man, it SEEMED his heart appeared to be in the right place.

That kinda bums me out. She was an original Mouseketeer. Being that I was 5 or 6 years old, I watched the Mickey Mouse Club every day after school. I'm pretty sure Annette was the first girl I ever had a crush on.

I'd be willing to bet there were many young men who went all wanky wanky to her.
