greg775
I just LOVE Muhammad Ali and everything about him. I could watch him scream, "I am the greatest of all time!" over and over and over and never tire of it. Rest in Peace, Mr. Ali. I contend he is the most famous sports figure of ALL TIME. Others in the equation: Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, maybe Babe Ruth? But Ali ... THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME! Edited June 4, 2016 by greg775

Dick Allen
About 10 years ago I was walking down Jackson and about half a block in front of me, a big commotion breaks out. It turns out Muhammad Ali was coming out of a building. I walked over, he was in a wheelchair. People were taking pictures. His helpers passed out little cards that said best wishes from Muhammad Ali with his signature below. I still have it. I don't know if he really signed it. Probably copied, but I have run into several celebrities and athletes in my life, and that was the first time even when I was a little kid, I was star struck. The only other time was a couple of years later when Michael Jordan was working out at my health club.

greg775
QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 11:42 AM) Some people here will be staying offline so they aren't annoyed by people remembering Ali. Who cares? They are grouches. Part of life is celebrating those after they die. Ali was one of those guys worthy of honoring and talking about after his passing. How can anybody be "annoyed" by discussing the death of an icon? Part of the problem with this world today. So much "me" worship and no caring about history or paying respects. kevo880
Sucks to see him go. He meant a lot to everyone in our community in SW MI. He raised his family in Berrien Springs, which is about 10-15 minutes from my hometown of Stevensville. One of my favorite memories was when I was a cashier in high school and Ali and his wife come through my checkout line. Him and his wife were the nicest people imaginable. I ran into them about 5 times in everyday situations in my younger years and they would talk to anyone and everyone every time.
