We'll be seeing the excesses of the 70's and 80's catching up to people in the coming years. Cocaine.

Is it really that 2016 was such a bad year or is this gonna be the norm as there are more and more celebrities nowadays, and they are all getting older.

Bigger population. More media. More celebrities, many of which absued cocaine and alcohol. It's the norm. Fisher, George Michael and Prince were all young and all had a history of hard partying. Not everyone is Ozzie or Keith Richards.

I think we're definitely approaching the years when people we grew up watching and listening to will be leaving this earth, but some of these people are too young. Their lifestyles when they were younger probably not helping matters.

I don't know how you quantify this...but yeah I think 2016 seems like a huge outlier compared to previous years.

There have been worse years, I'm sure but now the internet generation is seeing their heroes die under non-stop media exposure.

The fact that Carrie Fisher's mother basically died of a broken heart is incredibly depressing.

RIP Debbie and Carrie and condolences to their family.

It wasn't a broken heart, it was because she was 84 years old.

Apparently she had a stroke or two earlier, but her daughter's death, according to medical people absolutely could have triggered her fatal one.

They said we are built to expect our parents deaths, even a spouse's, naturally, , but no one is built to deal with their child's death no matter what the age. You expect them to survive you. It creates a stress that easily could have killed her.
